Default "The Feather and the Fat Boy" (a love story)

OK, I've been experimenting with DE shaving for a few months now and today I can finally say with complete confidence that I have unearthed my own personal wetshaving nirvana!

I'm using a 50 year old Fat Boy with a fresh Feather blade and Proraso shaving cream (applied direct to my face, with no brush... I don't like 'em).

A very quick, simple two-pass shave this morning AND OH MY $&^%ING GOD... the absolute, hand's down, very best shave of my life!

First pass was with-the-grain set at 4 and the second pass was against-the-grain set at 5. That's it. Baby's Butt Smooth and absolutely no burn or discomfort.

I have no idea why people ever moved away from DE shaving. I could NEVER have gotten this close and comfortable shave with any of the multi-bladed systems! Its now almost 4 in the afternoon and my face is still smoother than any shave I ever got with a multi-blade razor.

    Thanks for letting me share.

feather in a fat boy is one of my favorite combos as well. the sharp blade goes well with the extra heft afforded by the fat boy

    Thumbs up

I just got my fatboy today that I won on the bay, and after a good cleaning and sanitizing, I stuck a fresh feather in it and went to town. I also am about 2 months into wet shaving and have used several different razors and I was very happy with my first fat boy shave. It feels the most comfortable and steady in my hand than any of the other razors I've tried so far. I'm happy with my purchase, less than $25 shipped for a nice shaving grade razor.

I don't want to hear about how well razors I don't have work...

Just kidding. Congratulations on your great shave!

Feather and the Fatboy (wasn't that an '80's cop show?) is my all time favorite combination. I'm trying to learn an open comb now, but the lure of the Fatboy is strong!

    Congrats!

I myself just loaded up a feather in my 1959 Fatboy this morning for the first time and it was indeed heavenly compared to the other blades I have tried!

    Congrats on the great shave!

I just tried the Fatboy which arrived in the mail yesterday, with an Israeli Personna and it was great, Can't wait to try a feather in it!!

Blasphemy! Oh, and gratz to a great shave!

I just traded a slant for a Fatboy. I have a Slim and prefer the lighter weight to the Fatboy, but it is a wonderful razor.
