Default Looking for a new DE

    Hi Gents,

So in my wetshaving lab I have come to the following conclusions....

....My Merkur HD is a solid, heavy razor, gives a decent shave, but I find myself pushing a bit too much.

....I don't like feather blades; crystals and red personnas work best for me....

....My feather portable requires MUCH less pressure because of its blade gap and agressiveness...

I want a good balance of more agression than the HD, yet with more feel and heft than the feather portable.

Is a vintage RED Tip in my future??

According to http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index...Aggressiveness the Mühle R89 blade gap is about 2/3 of the way from the 34c to the FP. It's a nice razor: mine has been my daily shaver since I got it.

On the other hand it can be hard to find the R89 in stock, while red tips show up on the B/S/T fairly often.

why not try an adjustable? I think one gets used to the aggressiveness of a razor with time. What is aggressive to you now may not be in a year.

The R89 is probably the best razor ever. No joke. Easily my favorite, bar none.

Now if only I could find a 41...

A nice old Old Type (no play on words intended) might work for you.

What is a good, solid, yet affordable adjustable razor? I'm a VDH, Omega brush kinda guy, so I like value, but will pay more for lasting quality.

I'll sell you my Gillete fatboy for $35 bucks! it adjusts from 1 to 9 on the scale. Or if you prefer, I'll sell you a 1960 Gillette Flare TTO for $25.

edit: both in very good condition and price includes shipping.
