old English Leather vs Pinaud Sp. Reserve

Found 2 bottles of original (Mem) English Leather cologne last week. Have seen it in stores forever but never bought it. These made me curious so...

After trying them, I found they reminded me of Pinaud's Special Reserve...only the SR is much stronger - perhaps due to the EL's age - and noticeably sweeter. The EL scent did not last nearly as long as the SR, either, again perhaps due to its age.

My nose is not the best but does this comparison sound accurate, to anyone who familiar with old EL and new SR?

That's an interesting observation. I don't get much similarity myself. I like English Leather--it has a nice warm scent, maybe a little sweet. Special Reserve is pretty cool too. I didn't like the first bottle I had--it was very heavy on the Pinaud Vegetal thing. The new one I bought is much better. To me, a very dry leather.
