How hard would this be to make into a shave stick?

Veg on a stick....How the Hell has the world survived this long without it?

Or would that be Veg in a stick? Or Lilac Vegestick? Maybe Lilac Stickitall?

    This is huge.

I just found three old Walgreens pill bottles shaving soap molds for Lilac Vegestick.

Best way to keep the soap from sticking to the mold - wax paper?

Well, given what we're working with here, this recipe yields soap easily worth a "not bad" and creeping up on "good", but that's about it. As has been said, it beats the likes of VDH, but doesn't replace Taylor's. The lather wasn't bad, and definitely did the job, but it was a bit lacking for me. The biggest benefit is that you can make it at home (kinda fun) and you can give it whatever scent you like.

This is worth a try, but leave out the arguments about cost effectiveness. You're laying out $30, give or take, to get started, and I'll be surprised if you ever use it all. Your wife probably already used the rest of that Aztec Clay to make a mud bath, didn't she...

True...you'll probably never actually save money by doing it this way, but at least it seems a little more justifiable to the wife if it is in fact cheaper by the ounce!

    Wow!

Phil, you Lilac Vegetal folks must be the most loyal fans out there. I'd say even more than the 'Arkoleptics'

I will have to give this a whirl. Not the soap, I have other OCD hobbies, like loading ammunition, but Lilac Vegetal. I only smelled it in the tester at Merz. This weekend I'll walk over there and buy a bottle. I have to check out this Veg thing.

I salute you, sir, for making your own Veg soap! Wow!

Hey now... if one of us Arko lovers wanted scent up a soap to make it smell like Arko we would just unwrap a stick, throw it in a ziplock baggie with the Arko, and not only would the soap absorb the heavenly scent that is Arko's... it would also transmute into the amazingly slick, lather bomb that Arko is.

Wow, this is an old thread brought back to life!

For those who commented about price, you're absolutely correct. This isn't cheaper.
In fact, it's probably more expensive than a top of the line soap, especially when considering the cost of my time that went into it.

    But

It was a heck of a lot of fun, and I got a soap in the scent that I love, and one which isn't available anywhere else to boot.

Really - I know we say we are doing this to save money, but we all know the truth there!

Yup, I believe it that it's not cost efficient. Specially if you go from a pre-made product and transform it into another product (LV)... Just like Mythbuster, you need to do the maths first and then go large scale!

    Lilac soap ALREADY EXISTS!!

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...#ht_512wt_1404

But it's not shaving soap. Nice set, though.

Obviously someone who has never smelled "The Veg"

The Veg isn't just a Lilac Scent - it is, but it is also so much more.
Whether you are a fan and have been chosen by the Veg, or you hate it and have been soundly spanked by the hand of rejection -

We can all agree that there isn't anything out there as unusual and off the beaten path as Lilac Vegetal.

I'm waiting for the Lilac Vegetal stick to be hard enough to do a test with it...

I took the easy road compared to Phil. I had a puck of unscented glycerin soap. I boiled some LV, added a bit of glycerin (yup, more) and added the melted soap... Pictures and quantities to come...
