  1. Default Looking for a good trifecta.

I'm looking for some reviews from you experts:
I'd like a good combination of complimentary scents for soap, aftershave
and cologne. I need to start with the cologne: I'm looking for good staying
power. Scents tend to dissapear rather quickly on me.

I would prefer not to smell like a girl- flowery scents are right out.

for Cologne, that is if you want women to ask for your phone number, I would recommend Armani Emporium. or you could go with Ogalalla's Bay Rum Cologne and Aftershave Ogalalla's Bay rum. The Bay Rum cologne has excellent staying power. As for (shaving?)soap, I cannot emphasize how much Tabac will rock your world.

I should have pointed out... anything that smells like tobacco/pipe is right
out. The wife has negative reactions to it.

You mentioned Armani Emporium. What soap/aftershave would go well
with that? Oh, and I'm not finding it... are you referring to Armani Emporio?

Well this is really a "how much do you want to spend" area. A couple of quality options that will not set you back a small fortune are Speick and Tabac. Both have soaps, aftershaves and colognes in matching/complimentary scents.

On the more expensive side Penhaligon's and T&H have matching soap/creams, aftershaves and colognes. You can check out some vendors to see what scents will match in all areas. Domenico Caraceni 1913 makes a matching cream and cologne that are almost identical in scent.

A couple of my personal favorite are:
    1) Straight Razor Designs Bulgarian Rose soap or Saint Charles Shave Rosa Damascena soap (these are not a flowery rose, but more a darker, earthy rose scent) followed by
    2) D. R. Harris Pink or SCS Rosa Damascena AS balm followed by
    3) C&S #88 or Domenico Careceni 1913

+1. Knew I was forgetting one that I should remember. D. R. Harris has the matching scents in Arlington and Marlborough. Harris also a lavender soap that you could follow with their lavender A/S/cologne.

This is a great combo. I don't know if it is true for the other Harris products, but the Arlington line has a consistent scent through out the product line.

I just got a triple from Taylors of Old Bond Street.

    • Mr. Taylors Shaving cream
    • Mr. Taylors aftershave
    • Mr. Taylors Cologne

I know that the scent from the cream doesn't match exactly to the AS and Cologne but I'm hoping that the three together provide me with a nice scent. I will probably be wearing these for a night out next weekend with my wife.

You have to wear cologne to know how its going to smell as your skin chemistry has a lot to do with it. Massive trial and error thing. Also you need to find a scent that is you, I could tell you what I use but then you would just smell kinda like me and as good as I smell you might be after something different.

If your finding your scents fade fast buy water or oil based cologne and look for something with good mid tones and end notes.

I use unscented shaving products and dark woody cologne, the combination is very me: clean and simple upfront and something just a bit more complex under the surface.

My favorite combo right now is Truefitt and Hill Grafton shaving cream, Truefitt and Hill Grafton ASB, and Chanel Platinum Egoiste cologne. You'll smell like a man should, and draw very nice reactions from the opposite sex.

+2 I could live with this as my only set up if I had to.
