First DE shave

I just finished my first DE shave. I used Williams soap/ Tweezerman brush/ Gillette SuperSpeed/Wal-Mart blades/Nivea Aftershave Balm.

I have been using Tabac with my Mach 3, and I think I'll go back to that. The Williams was a lark, and in hindsight I should stick with the better soap--I had tried the Williams on a dry run earlier and thought I made a decent lather, but my neck feels a tad rough right now.

Other than that, pretty good. Not as close as I want, but that will come. I wasn't always sure the blade was making contact, which I think is a good thing. Very smooth while shaving. It is hard to articulate the difference in shaving with a DE vs. a cartridge. Worth the effort so far, and I assume it will only get better. Thanks to all for the help to date. Hopefully, I can start to contribute soon.

could also be your blades, you should get a sampler pack. I have found williams lathers really good if you use zach's method. I know it is a huge waste of soap but it is cheap and it is the only soap I do that with. But tabac!
