Returning Newbie

I bought my first straight razor in 1974. It was shortly after the first Arab Oil Embargo for the USA. Some of us thought the world was going to end soon. I got a razor and strop because it appeared as if all systems were going down within months. I had a Solingen razor with green scales and silver filagree. I had a two piece strop. It worked well. I eventually escaped the marriage, leaving all my possessions in exchange for keeping my freedom. It was a good trade, though I lost my razor and strop.

Fast forward to now. I have a couple of razors, with a few more on the way. All are vintage. I have a strop on order. I just can't stand the idea of spending $21 USD on disposable razors from Gillette, when I can buy great blades of great vintage for less. All it takes to get a great shave, is to take your time. It's a small price to pay for greatness.
