Default Do I need suncream & asb on holiday?...

Hello, im going on holiday to a hot country in a few weeks time, now I plan on shaving every morning.

At home I just apply aftershave balm, but will I need both aftershave balm & suncream for the day ahead? I dont want to overload my skin, but im guessing I may need to use both products???.

    Cheers

There are some combination sunscreen/moisturizers for the face that work quite well. Eucerin makes one with different SPF ratings and a pump that doles out only a tiny dab at a time. I've had good success with the SPF 30. I'll also point out that your skin being damp (not wet) makes it easier to put on most moisturizers (requires less and doesn't "pull" at the skin while rubbing it in).

I burn pretty easily, so I often shave in the morning with regular ASB and then add the sunscreen later in the day before I go out. My skin does end up pretty oily that way, and I often wash my face an extra time or two to combat the oiliness.
    The goods:
    Merkur Slant 37c
    Tweezerman pure badger brush
TOBS sandalwood cream, Proraso eucalyptus cream
    Thayer's WH with aloe
    Nivea ASB, Pinaud Clubman AS

    When it's hot I use a nice splash - but everybody's skin's different.

If you are out and about, please put on a hat and sunscreen. Sunscreen should be applied well before exposure to the sun and normally re-applied during the day as well.
    Have a great trip!

    Don't worry about it.

That whole Sun screen thing is way overblown.

My friends don't use it, and they've been in the sun frequently.

You need sunscreen EVERY day, not just one holiday.

You need sunscreen and a proper hat every time you're out in the sun.

I grew up on the beaches here and, believe me, you don't want to get burned. I don't get to the beach as often as I'd like, but I always wear sunscreen. I'm also in Arizona a bit and wear it down there, too. Forget the ASB, just use witch hazel and follow it with sunscreen. In the evenings, be sure to wash it off and you can apply ASB then if you want.

As a cautionary note, my father recently had to have several small skin cancers burned off. Nothing too bad and he's fine, but a few weeks of chemical peels was unpleasant and he was not happy about it. He now wears sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat when he's outside more than 15-20 minutes.
