I don't know much about some of these stones. What are the properties of this stone? Approx. grit of stone, stuff like that.

Richard,

Natural Japanese stones don't carry traditional grit ratings... But a stone like this would be very, very fine!

I use mine after my 8K. First with a slurry, then with just water. They're great finishing stones. I don't even need a pasted strop afterward.

+1 You might also try a drop of liquid soap in the water. I find that it sucks the razor down onto the hone and makes the results even finer.
