    • Astra Superior Platinum

Here is what I have left:

    • Feather New Hi-Stainless Platinum
    • Crystal or "Israeli"
    • Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge
    • BIC Chrome Platinum
    • DORCO Platinum ST-300
    • DORCO Platinum ST-301
    • Red Pack Israeli
    • Lord Platinum
    • Sharp
    • Iridium Super
    • Shark Super Chrome
    • Shark Super Stainless
    • Nacet Platinum

What brand should I try next. Currently I'm on the Astras

I'm a newbie myself and am awaiting the arrival of my products. I ordered individual packs of Merkur, Derby Extra and Feathers. What were your thoughts on the Merkur and Derby Blades? What type of razor are you using?

The Merkur did not give me a close enough shave and I got a good deal of razor burn with both the Merkur and Derby. The Astra and Wilkensons (not in the sampler) gave me good shaves and were about equal in my opinion. I am using the Wilkinsons as my base line blade.

    Crystals
    Gillette 7 o'clock
    Iridium
    Feather

After testing those four you'll probably won't find a better blade

If you liked the Astras, you will love the Feathers. They are a wow! blade for me.

    Default DE Blades........

On the subject of blades, do any of the big box retailers carry any preferred brands? I've got Merkurs, Derbys and Feathers, but do I pretty much have to order online to find some of the more popular blades such as Astras, Personnas, Crystals and Iridiums? I live in rural Georgia, and was curious if I might find any in stores without having to drive 40 miles to Atlanta?

I absolutely love using my Derbys, which I have now been using for roughly 8 months. I have not have such luck with Wilkinson, and to a lesser extent the Merkur. I've recently ordered a sampler with some Israeli Personnas, Feathers, Swedish Gillettes, and Crystals. I am excited to give these a try, especially with my new Gillette Tech

Try the Sharks. They are my current favorites.

Any blade that you use will have to pass the test of does it work for you. Everyone is different and not all blades will work the same for everyone.

Let recommendations be a guide, but see how each blade suits you. The best recommended blade could be really bad for you, and the worst could be your best.

Try as many as you can, keep a record of each, and find your own best.
