Default There are NO stupid questions!!! Well.....

Okay, this borders and stupid - or at least quite ignorant as I have just crossed the threshold of DE & wet shaving.

I love looking at all of your shave den pics and set ups!!

I just have a simple tube of Proraso right now and a cereal bowl. I see a good amount of pics with tupperware that is labeled. It looks like left over soap? Or lather that has already been "made"? Educate me on this because some of you have LOTS of tupperware containers and I don't want to miss out on whatever fun you guys are having

    Thanks!

I'm guessing the Tupperware is glycerin soaps that are melted and poured into them, or shave sticks that have been milled and pressed to make them easier to use. I melted some soap into a glass dish and added some clubman. It’s not bad, but I’m not really a soap guy.

tupperware is generally used for storing shaving soaps.

they're inexpensive, stackable and have lids. for soap fans who want to try a bunch of different brands, it's a great way to keep them fresh and safe

But don't shave soaps come in tubs? Why would you take them out & put them in Tupperware?

Not if you're buying a refill, they come just wrapped in plastic or paper.

And you can buy tupperwares that are stackable/nestable. Makes under-counter storage easier and neater.

when i use soap i use the wooden bowl that came with my crabtree & evelyn soap. so wooden bowls are good to keep. you don't have to label them if you're using one at a time like i do.

you can get some nice glass bowls with lids made by anchor hocking from target. i've seen those in pictures too they're very nice.

It depends on the soap, and sometimes the "custom" soap container can be more $$ than the soap itself, which is why a lot of us buy refills. Also, some of the less expensive glycerin soaps (Col. Conk for example) don't come in bowls. I currently have 2 Col. Conk and 2 different Ogallala soaps that I melted into tupperwares.

The containers help to keep things in order. I have a Col. Conk glycerin soap that I've had for months in a shaving mug. I use it every so often and it just sits there uncovered in that mug in a drawer under my sink. I've had no problems with it doing this, and whenever I use it it works fine. When its used up I'll put another soap into that mug, a soap that didn't come with its own container. I use soaps most of the time, so its nice to have a container for each.

i never buy the expensive wood/ ceramic bowls, i just use tupperware with refills. doesn't look as pretty, but it allows you to try a bunch of different soaps for the same you would have spent for less had you bought the bowls. maybe once you find one you really love more than the others, then you could buy the bowl?

Funny I had always thought that those Tupper containers contained food. Just a small snack in case the munchies get you while shaving. Now you say that they are full off soap. So what do you you put the food in?

I believe you are thinking of shaving creams. Soaps are solid. Creams are, well, creamy (like tooth paste).

EDIT: Nuts. It's too bad that I didn't read your post more closely. You said "tubs" but I read "tubes." Now I look even more foolish than I really am.

Would these containers work for melting soap into them?

Yep, but I like the 4oz, double walled containers with a lid that some cosmetic container websites sell. They're just like the containers Mama Bear soaps come in.

p.s. - This has nothing to do with the OP, his question, or this thread. It's just a quote I heard somewhere that I thought was funny. "There are no stupid questions, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots." It was probably on a demotivational poster.
