Default A brush I have in mind

I'm 50 years old and I'm on my second brush. I build the occasional thing . . . I think it over and over. Maybe it is because of St. Patrick's day or maybe I had a bad bit of cheese that kept me up all night. My grandfather had a collection of Shillelaghs. Dark knobbly walking sticks is what they were. They were of a beautiful almost black wood, very sturdy, very lacquered. Looking this up on line I see they were blackthorn.

I have never seen a brush as I now have in mind . . . but now I am going to attempt to build one. Might not be blackthorn, might be a wood darkened by taking a blow torch to it . . . might be a bit of firewood that resisted being split. It will be carved with knives . . . not certain if I will sand it . . . maybe only the bottom so it can stand. . . I will drill a well for the brush . . . I think this will be the first thing.

I'm starting from scratch . . . it may take some time but I will take some pictures.

This sounds like a great project.

I look forward to your pics and your progress reports!

    Good luck.
