Phenomenal finds! I'm guessing that you can pay for the entire lot with those lather catchers, alone. Very nice.

    Congratulations!

Runs through April 3. If you go, check out Marberger Farm. It's one of the larger venues and opens Tuesday. You might run into Randy!

Nice scores! The Pomco Slant is a rebranded Merkur Slant, though I have never seen one in a case before.

I indeed have your address! Don't worry about my lost golf time. SWMBO is an events planner with Shell. I'll be spending plenty of quality golf time at the Shell Houston Open next weekend.

I don't think I even covered 5% of what's there. I left plenty for everyone else.

BTW, several vendors told me that certain states were cracking down on straight razor sales at antique venues because they are considered "weapons". What that means is that most vendors started keeping their straights in locked cases under the counter, so to speak.

So ask if they have them. If they do, they'll show you.

Smile Gillette Old Type--Shaved with a piece of history this morning.

Found a Ball End Handle Old Type at an antique shop yesterday. It looked kinda awful, but I took it home anyway, hoping it would clean up decent. The entire handle was black and oxidized, and the top of the shave head was covered with gunk and stuck-on dust. I gave it 2 separate soakings in Scrubbing Bubbles, and then soaked it in hot water with dishsoap. This got the bulk of the funk off, and I removed the remainder with a toothbrush and some toothpaste. Then a light buffing with Brasso and a soft cloth shined up the handle rather nicely. Looks like all of the plating/finish is gone from the shave head. The handle has 2 cracks, one at the top, and another at the bottom. Also, the ball end is tight, but did work itself loose during cleaning, and I accidentally pulled it loose from the handle. Should I epoxy it on permanently, or not worry about it, since it is tight enough that it isn't a problem while shaving?

Shaved with it this morning with a Big Ben Super Stainless blade, and I gotta admit, it shaves like a dream. I didn't know if I'd like an aggressive feeling razor or not, but this was quite impressive! Definitely gonna hold on to this one and keep it in my regular rotation.

I looked on the Wiki to see if I could find out when this razor was produced, and didn't exactly come up with an absolute answer. The only markings are the Gillette diamond logo and "MADE IN U.S.A." on the underside of the shave head. There is no serial #, though, which leads me to think this was made in 1903.(?) Any guidance from the more experienced would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, the razor looks exactly like this. http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Old%20Type/1920s%20unusual%20representation%20set.jpg

It could be from the 20s, Gillette Old Types (I have one) that were in production at the same time as the news did not bear a serial number, these were made from 1920-1929. If I'm wrong someone correct me please.

SWMBO collects depression era glass and Waterford perfume bottles. She did manage to score a few hobnail Fentons and two Blenkos.

    Default Not so score?

    G'day all :)

Got into an ebay bidding war a while back... Now thinking of a re-listing, as this scuttle just isn't working so good for me (glycerin based soaps just don't seem to work for me)

I know I overpaid (damn bidding wars) well into the 3 figure range... Wondering what a reasonable value is for it? Suggestions?

It is wade england ceramics... And ya gotta love the sopwith :D

    Thoughts?

    You should epoxy the handle.

This will keep the handle from splitting from top to bottom.

    Great shavers.

I think I remember seeing that on the bay, but can't remember if I bid on it. As a pilot, I thought it would be neat to have a mug or scuttle with a plane on it. If you think of parting with it, post a price. I may take you up on it.
