    Default Sock it too me...

    Socks....

What kind of socks do you gentleman wear? Crew, Mid Calf Or Over The Calf? Dress or casual? Plain, colors, prints or argyles? What do you pay for them and where?

The socks are suppose to match the trousers.

In my case I love to wear OTC socks, the crew and mid calf gives me the feeling that my socks are about to fall down. I usually purchase the gold toe brand, however, I just ordered Lands Ends during a recent promotion to try thier brands.

It is hard to find OTC socks in different colors.

So tell me about your socks.....sock it to me

I wear nothing but Thor-Lo socks. Good stuff imho. They are a bit expensive, but they seem to last much longer than the 10 pair for 5 bucks socks, and provide a great deal of cushion.

Summer/spring- ankle socks (adidas, Nike) whatever is really on sale.

Fall/winter-- wool socks (got them from some camp outfitter store) very warm.

    Dress socks--Doesn't matter.

Anyone else here have their significant other steal your socks

or the ever so popular sock monster (drying machine)

+1 to that. Nothing worse than seeing someone in black pants/shoes with white socks. Take the extra time and get some matching socks.

A veritable rainbow ... bit pricey, though.

I've never tried Drake's socks, but I get great results from Pantherella; from what I've seen, the colours of their OTC socks are pretty conservative (black, greys, blues, khakis & olives, that sort of thing) either plain or with unobtrusive patterns.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

I did find a wide selection of OTC socks at Jos. Banks....and Lands End

while they both have a great variety of mid calf and crew, i prefer the OTC....I just received some cotton OTC from Lands End this afternoon...the main focus will be how comfortable are they adn how long will they last...

Why? Cotton breathes a lot easier than other fabrics, especially during the summer.

there's a general contempt for cotton socks(or cotton anything) among some groups because it takes forever to dry, and loses most or all of its insulating ability when wet, whereas wool retains up to 80% of its insulating ability when wet, and good synthetics/blends dry quickly. cotton really has no performance advantage that's not outdone in another, better material. it's just inexpensive.

(think swimming trunks. remember when you were a kid and they'd make you get out of the pool for a thousand years while the grown-ups still got to swim? assuming you weren't one of those who frequently pretended to fall back in the water every few minutes, remember how your shorts were always dry by the time you got to go back in? if you'd been wearing cotton shorts they'd still be soaked, and the pool water would feel like a hot bath compared your half-frozen little butt).

I often wear black Doc Marten's, white knee length socks and black britches!

There again, it's my morris dancing kit. I also have bells on the legs!

I'll wear cotton dress socks in the summer, but find that a thin wool dress sock is pretty much its equal in the staying cool department.

When I think synthetics, I think dry dry fit material that takes forever to dry and traps odor. I do have some synthetic and wool socks that I wear in the winter but wouldn't dare think of wearing them in the spring/summer, especially in the Texas heat.
