    Default Northern NJ Barber Shops

I found a barbershop in Bloomfield that still gives straight shaves. I haven't tried the shave, but did try the haircut and it was pretty good, although pricey at $21.

    The name - Carmine's
    Location: 1290 Broad St Bloomfield, NJ 07003 (973) 893-0300

This is very near the Brookdale Shop Rite, so gents, you can have SWMBO do the shopping while you get a shave and a haircut.

I also read a review in 201 Magazine about a place in Midland Park that is highly rated.

    Best Barber Shop
Larry and Phil’s Barber Shop, Midland Park
Old-fashioned barbers to their core, Larry and Phil have a loyal customer base who enjoy a shave and a haircut from these two masters. Among the devotees is Robert Confrancisco of Wyckoff, who considers the shop’s “small-town appeal” a cut above in modern-day Bergen. “All the kids get a lollipop (or two). The barbers handle the small kids’ cuts with expertise. My haircuts have never been better,” says Confrancisco. “Walk in without an appointment, and a half-hour later, you come out with a great haircut. All the barbers are experts.”

They are at: 62 Godwin Avenue Midland Park, NJ 07432-1951 (201) 652-9535

Carmine's charges $20 for a straight shave and Larry & Phil's charges $17. If anyone has gone to these gentlemen for a shave, please let us know what you thought of it. I am sorely tempted to try one. Thanks.

    There's also Hoboken Man http://www.hobokenman.com

I haven't been there, but I'm eager to know if anyone else has.

I wondered why I had never heard of this place, being in Hoboken as often as I am.

Then I saw the location - the very ritzy condos built on the site of the old Maxwell House Plant. They have very ritzy NY prices to go with those condos.

So, I will not be trying their services.

A "maybe" would be Esquire Barbershop, 14 Park Ave. Madison, NJ. (973) 377-9625. I got a fantastic haircut with a straight razor cleanup there some years back.

I've also wondered about the availability of a good turkish barber.. There are a number of turkish neighborhoods in NE NJ.

There is a Turkish barber in Clifton, on Montgomery Street, just off Route 46 East bound, and incidentally just down the road from where the Shulton plant once stood proudly.

    Here is the information:

    29 Montgomery Street,
    Clifton, NJ 07011-3128
    (973) 340-4740‎
