What era of Williams...?

This confirms my memory that Williams back then was more yellow. I think you have already nailed the date down. I was going to add that Canada went metric around 1977. Interesting that today's product is 49 grams an the old ones were 42 and 43 grams.

Ah, good point, Alacrity59 -- forgot the whole metric conversion thing! :D So, we've pretty much narrowed the timeframe. Thanks, all!

To our American cousins who might know -- how many ounces was the pre-Combe Williams?

I have a few pre Combe Williams boxes, they list the weight at 1-3/4 OZ.

Interesting Canadian Williams discussion. You'd think something this "common" would be less of a mystery.

Thanks for the confirmation, Topgumby! That's interesting -- this almost suggests that the pre-Combe product in Canada might have been different than the American version. What vintage is your pre-Combe stuff?

mblakele -- thanks for clarifying for the other readers of this thread. I already did the conversion offline before my post, but I wasn't explicit -- thanks for filling in the blanks!

Cheers,
Jimmy
