Bike ride on the Fox River Trail! No 'workout' today-------just biking in the heat!!! BTW, I am liking the 'Starting Strength' program. I think the deadlifts and squats as well as standing overhead presses are a huge benefit and build 'practical' muscle as well.

Usual 120 minutes fast walking, then the lawn mower for 45 minutes. I would welcome any suggestions to extend my workout .. bearing in mind that can't run (joints are old) and bunionitis limits the walking to what I did today. Preferably all weather stuff, I use creepers in the winter if it gets icy

Depends on your goals but if you want to stay durable I would go with the following routine for 20-30 minutes. Pick at least two exercises and do them for about 20-30 minutes. Keep your heart rate up. Rest when you have can't speak coherently or easily.

    Squats
    Shoulder Presses
Pullups (alternate grip) or rows using weights or any type of resistance
    Pushups

You can split them in two days: Squats, shoulder presses one day; on the second day do pushups, pullups. Important thing is to be active for at least 20 to 30 minutes daily. There is a great book that just came out "The First 20 Minutes" by Gretchen Reynolds. Yoga is good too, no joke.

    Congrats!
Thanks. I was initially planning on a much faster time but tendonitis in my knee kept severely retarding my training. As of race day I was afraid I was going to struggle to do it in 2:30; so all things considered I was very happy with my time.

Did a few laps in the pool tonight.
