    Default Just under the nose...

The rest of my face has responded differently to different blades, no surprises there.

But I've really struggled with the area 1/8 of an inch under my nose. Any ideas for this region? I recently had nasal surgery, and if bending the nose is the secret, I would still like to hear about it, but can't really implement it as a current strategy.

Any thoughts you have are most welcome...

    Best,

    Boomer

Are you having a general problem? Or something specific? To get the last few bits of stubble right under my nose I find a Tech really handy...the low head profile lets me get there without needing to go ATG

Try just curling your upper lip down over your teeth. This will stretch that area taut. Then try going XTG. You can do very light blade buffing, and even do that ATG. That should take care of that stubborn area.

I've also found that a thin head on your razor is easier to get into those tight places. The Merkur 1904 open comb fits that bill very nice.

I go ATG, or just use the very edge/corner of the razor. Takes bit of practice.

One of the grooming tools that has become a necessity in my life is a nose hair trimmer. (it works on unruly eyebrows and ear hair as well . . . don't groan you too may reach this point in life) I think I use the same model as Steve Carell in Evan Almighty a Phillips NT9110. I have used this to trim the last little bit above my lip and below my nose.

May not work for you right now, but I take my thumb and jam the point of nose up. Seems to work well for me. That, and sometimes I pull my lips tight over my upper teeth.

Ooh, very handy hint!! Mine's the same model. That was when I realised I was on the slippery slope to the old folk's home....all those random hairs in nose and ears

When going XTG in that area, be aware of which way your hair grows. For me, going from the outside of the mouth towards the center of my nose is almost ATG vs XTG. This works best for me in getting that last stubborn hairs that are missed in previous passes.

    Hope it helps,

Turn the razor upside down, and shave from the lip toward the nose in that small area missed by the razor when you shave from the nose toward the lip.

    Default Thanks!

    Guys,

Thanks for the feedback. Give me two or three days to try things out, I'm sure one of these ideas will turn into Shaving Wisdom.

I thought this would take some time to fix, but honestly I tried a more aggressive XTG shave this morning and it completely solved this problem.

    Thanks again for the help!

Anybody else do this with a DE? How often do you cut yourself using this technique, or, more to the point, how do you manage not to cut yourself doing this?
