Default HELP! I put Dawn in the rinse aid dispenser!

I accidently put 2-3 squirts of dawn into the rinse dispenser It had about 1/4 rinse aid left. I put about 2/4 dawn. Then I added water to dilute it. I also moved the switch to Max dispense to hopefully clear it out.

    Any ideas?

If it doesn't sud all over the floor like the movies, will it leave a film on all my dishes?

I did that once when I first got married. It did indeed foam up just like the movies. It was literally rolling out of the dishwasher. My wife was so pleased that I tried to do the dishes that she's never even teased me about it (although I like telling the story myself). I just ran it a couple of times empty to clean it out--no damage done.

I have no idea what would happen, but I wouldn't panic. Your SO will never ask you to do dishes again.

In the back of my mind that was always the plan :)

I am running it through right now with some dishes.

I hope the best for you and your dishes. But can you post pics if it doesn't go well? Good luck, Larry

The cycle has been going for at least 30 minutes. I opened it up and just a little suds. I don't know if the rinse aid has come out yet but I will cross my fingers.

If you didn't fill the soapcup you shouldn't end up with suds all over. The rinse aid is just that, during the rinse it puts a little bit of Jetdry or that other brand in the water to help leave the dishes spotfree. WELL now you have soap in there, and that usually last 2 to 3 months... so stop the washer. Running cycle after cycle to get the soap out is not going to do it. You'd need a couple hundred. Open the rinse aid and put water in there, try and keep over filling it with water so you can get as much out as possible. THEN you can refill with RINSEAID. Your dishes may have a little soapscum for a while till the last of the soap is gone though.

If you have a wet-vac, try to suck it out, add water and suck it out again. if the dishwasher is full of suds get anti-foam from the carpet cleaner display rental center at the grocery store

    This is the correct answer.

You could pull the door and flush the dispenser with a lot of water if you're mechanically inclined. That would be the most thorough approach.
