Best value in satellite Internet?

So I'm getting exceedingly tired of my dial-up Internet connection and the molasses in January speed of downloading, etc. and I'm looking at satellite Internet. DSL is a not an option as it is unavailable at my house. To the best of my knowledge Wild Blue and Hughes Net are the only satellite Internet sources available. Of the two, does anyone have any experience/opinion on which one offers the most bang for the buck?

The basic WildBlue package has 512 k download speed and 128 k upload speed for just shy of $50/mo, while Hughes Net offers 700-1000 k download and 128 k upload for about $70/mo. That doesn't count lease charges, etc. But are these real, or just Memorex?

And along those lines, what's the better way to do it, lease the equipment or buy?
