    Default Hong Kong tea

I have a friend that'll be going to Hong Kong soon and ask me if I wanted anything from there. I immediately responded "Tea!"

Does anyone have any good suggestions on what might be good to bring back from Hong Kong?

I'd be asking for Tie Guan Yin oolong, Wuyi oolong, maybe Long Jing green tea or some nice Keemun/Qimen black tea.

    Keep it simple.

Don't ask for pu'erh unless your friend knows a bit about pu, you'll probably end up with some foul shu in a fancy wrapper.

I'm in HK so if you have some pu preference, I can pass some suitable ones on just to share

I was kind of thinking to ask him to look for some pu'erh but since I still haven't tried it I don't even think I know what to ask him for ... that's something I need to do soon though :)

If you have any suggestions as to what might be a good beginner pu-erh and that's easily available in HK that would be great!

IMO, I think a good beginner puerh easily found in Hong Kong would a nice aged loose leaf pu-erh. It won't have the complexities of older cakes, but at least the price is right. Sp1ky should have some idea of what places have good house blends.

    Sp1ky,

I'll be in HK in a couple of weeks. I should be there for around 3 days. Do you fancy meeting up for some tea?

If you're busy, no problem at all.

I am in HK, tell me what kind of tea your friend might want. I'll direct you to shops away from tourist traps that have a good reputation. One of my buddies in a tea club here. He is local. They were in the news a few years ago.

That sounds great. Some nice oolong and a beginner Pu-Erh would be perfect if you could recommend

If you're new, the best way is to pop into some tea shop and try some out, follow your taste. You may message me if you need any directions.

Hi Nada, sorry for the late reply as I've been caught up with some events the past week. Sure, always nice to meet a fellow tea friend. Just let me know when you have confirmed your itinerary and we'll hopefully work out something.
