Default Indulgence of the Night -- March / April 2010

In like a lion, out like a lamb? Or the other way around?

Either way, gonna need some indulgences to get us through March!

Tonight was an exercise in feeling stupid. Decided I wanted mojito. I picked up some mint and lime a couple days ago. So went to make my drink...

Realised that I forgot to pick up club soda.
Realised that I had a seltzer bottle!
Realised I drank the last of the seltzer at dinner.
Realised I had some CO2 and could make more! So I did.

Cut my lime and pulled out the mint... hey, this mint smells an awful lot like basil.

Oh well, I already had the lime cut. So here's my indulgence for the day, after feeling so bleeding stupid.

    Two shots Patron
    One shot Gran Marnier
    Two limes, juiced
    Half a shot agave syrup
    Half a shot water

Man, that's a good margarita! Now only if I had a nice cigar. Oh well, it's too cold to go outside, anyway.

It is the middle of the week and I just go over being sick. A Stella fit the bill nicely with dinner.

Worked a half day to start my night early as a belated birthday celebration. Jameson, mango shisha, a bond movie, practicing with my new fountain pens, and finish everything off later with a hot shower and shave. It's been a good day so far!

I'm currently enjoying a Guinness Draught (from the widget can) and catching up with the week's television on the DVR.

Very indulgent for a monday night but sod it, I've been virtually temperate over the weekend.

    Default Single Malt

Tonight it is a dram or two of a single malt, a 19 yr Balblair special bottling, in a Glencarin Scotch glass. I missed out on the B&B glasses. Got the same Glencarin glasses for Christmas, they are great.

Joined a Scotch club for a birthday present; they send me a different special bottling of single malt every two months. I am learning about the differences and educating my tastes all at the same time. The little scotch glasses help to enjoy the experience.

I hit a Glenlivet tasting last night. My buddy and I started early with burgers and Woodford reserve at the bar and then headed in for a sampling of the 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old French Oak, 16 Year Old Nadurra, and the 18 Year Old.

    Quite a nice evening.

First taste of Basil Hayden's last night. It's a good whiskey, and a nice change of pace from my favorites. Very light, thin, but not too weak. Strong pepper and spice. A bit on the pricey side at $33, when I can get Black Maple Hills for $25, Rare Breed for $29, etc...

Also had a Tanner's Jack Ale, which reminds me of a slightly more complicated Newcastle at a higher price.
