  1. Thumbs up Straight Razor Video

Contrary to popular belief, if you have a thick beard, you don't need a straight razor with a thick grind to get a good shave.

Yeah - the quality of youtube (and apparently my camera's ability to focus up close) really hosed me. When you look at the beard refuse in the later shown towards the end, that's a better representation.

Thanks for the video Joel. Im currently deciding whether i want to give Straights a crack sometime down the track. Seeing you work from the different angles has definitely given me a positive reaction.

I just started straight-razor shaving. Thanks for another video to see the basic techniques... and in hi-def! This helps a lot to see what I should be doing. Do you typically do one pass with your straight razors? With the grain?

    Thanks Joel.

One of your older vids (shaving with a Dovo 5/8) turned me on to the smaller blades. I still prefer wide ones, but watching that shave opened my eyes earlier in my shave "career".

Yeah - I find 90% of the time, a one pass with the grain is all that is needed.

That's almost enough to convince me to join the str8 ranks...

    GREAT video, Joel!

I think this is one of the biggest myths of straight shaving, especially for newbies.

I've actually 100% converted to full hollow blades because I appreciate the feedback so much.

Good job Joel! Every time I see one of these videos making it look so easy, it makes me re-think my decision to stick to DE shaving...

    Thanks for the inspiration!
