+2 on the Sharps Container. I just started DE shaving, but I already have a Sharps that I use for old needles after doing smack, er, I mean needles from my Humira injections for Crohn's. I figure it's the same kind of medical waste, so it should be a good way to go. Our local health dept accepts Sharps containers and issues new ones when you bring in a full one.
Easy peasy, or so it would seem. It will take me a while to fill up the container and take it in.
I made myself the 50 cent blade bank (though I used a can of apple sauce).
I looked into sharps containers, but here in Holland, razor blades are explicitly mentioned as not being medical waste, so I went with the all-metal route for recycling purposes.
As of 2 weeks ago, I'm using a Sharps container that my insurance company sent me free with my bi-weekly Humira injections.
Previously, I'd wrap them up in TP a little, break them into quarters inside the wrapping and then wrap them up into a ball of TP that goes down into the bottom of the trash can fairly easily and would be a lot of work for my son to unwrap if he decided to. If there was an empty TP roll on top in the trash, I;d stuff the ball into that and flatten it...one more layer of "security". Probably wasn't the best way to do it, but I kept everyone, including the trash collectors, very safe.
