    Default Blade disposal

Just interested in how everyone disposes of their used DE blades. I've only thrown out 2(only been using DE for a week), and I triple wrapped them in TP and threw them in the bathroom trash. Is there a better/safer disposal system that you guys use? May be interesting to see the differing opinions on this subject!

You can purchase "blade banks" from westcoastshaving (as well as other vendors) or you can craft your own.

I would suggest doing a search as there are at least 2 large threads dedicated to this exact question, and the threads include pics of what people use and have created...you'll probably find all the answers you need in there.

I would suggest going one of these methods and ultimately recycling the blades rather than throwing them out in the trash rapped in TP (for various reasons - i.e., safety of you and others, environment, etc.)

Some people use an old Antoids can or make them out of an old tin can. Vendors sell blade banks very inexpensive if you are already placing and order.
Also some blade dispensers have a used blade slot in the back. Do a search for blade banks and see if anything interests you. I think wrapping in paper and putting in the trash is not very safe.

As pointed out by sfbobus If you buy blades in the plastic dispensers, on the bottom there is a built in used blade bank to dispose of them.

The ones that are sold from the venders work great! Only about a $1.00 too. they are sealed with only a slot & when it is filled just toss it. Grab another one & start again. My only complaint is they are on the small side.

I was at the 99 cent store & they had coin banks that were shaped like a can of soda. Had a slot & removable top. I read here if you used a coin bank that you should mark it for safety that it is for "used blades". Those label makers are great for that. This is what I'm using now.

I created my own blade bank with a small resealable container. I cut a slot in the top and just deposit my used blades within it.

Check your blade dispenser has a slot at the back for disposing used blades, my superchrome blades have it, but I am not sure if it's common.

I put them between pages 100 and 101 of the latest Library book I have checked out.

A blade bank is available from online vendors, or you can make one of your own from a broth can.

    Easy cheezy.

I just use a large, 23oz. soft drink can. I make the pull tab hole a bit wider and drop the used blades in. In 5 to 10 years, when its almost full, I'll just tap the top over to seal the can, and drop it in the recycle. Works for me, and its free.

Empty prescription pill bottles work great. That's what I use.

Purchase a really cheap piggy bank, or get one free from your bank. Coin banks make perfect places to put razors in, the blades slide in, and they won't come out. When full, simply throw out.

This could help. I've found that a plastic container for chewing-bum works great for storing used blades. This particular model has a mouth that isn't very wide. Just enough to put the blade in the container. And it's hard to get it out. Simple. No extra work.

I'm using an empty plastic vitamin bottle. That being said, I'm not opposed to wrapping in TP and tossing it. I don't have kids or pets, so I wouldn't worry. If anyone goes looking through my trash to steal my identity or something, I hope they get cut up good!

Empty can with a slot cut in the top. I keep it under the sink. When it gets full I smash it flat and toss it in the recycle bin.

I have a medicine cabinet that has a slot that I presume is designed to dispose of blades. The only thing is that there is no way to empty it.

Be careful. A razor blade would go through that aluminum without a problem.
