    Default B&B auctions?

Has there ever been (or has it ever been considered) an auction forum as opposed to a straight sales (prices listed are firm or best offer) for B&B members? I would imagine that B&B decided that they didn't want us to become another Ebay, but I'm just curious...not necessarily advocating the idea (unless it was ONLY visible to B&B members, but even then...lol)

This crossed my mind after seeing the auctions on TSD, but it's different...there, they auction items ON Ebay, with the proceeds going to support the site: "The proceeds from these auctions will 100% be spent on the forum and it's operating costs. Hopefully they'll generate us a few bucks to spend on the forum, and maybe attract some new users." - I like this idea in addition to contributorship, but I'm just wondering.

I think if the forum profits off the BS/T it opens them up to liability issues that they'd probably rather not address, but I don't know for sure.

The idea of auctions here has been shot down in the past. It's just plain not gonna happen.

How about raffles for items to support the site?

I'm guessing that would actually end up being too much trouble though.

That's waht I was thinking...like I said, TSD lists ebay auctions with the proceeds going to the site maintenance costs.

It's no trouble at all, really.

Only Mr. Scruffy could have answered this the way he did. He is the master of the PIF for the benefit... and it is not all that easy !!!!!!
