Another Stropping Question

Is it possible to roll the edge if using a paddle strop? I can see how the physics would make this an issue on a hanging strop, but if the strop is rigid, is it possible?

But if you keep the razor flat, with the spine in contact with the strop, you could roll the edge by applying a lot of downward pressure?

With a flexy-flyer full hollow, applying pressure or torque on the shank simply bends the blade, moving the edge away from the strop's surface. With a stiffer grind then yes you can damage the edge, because the blade will depress the leather which will spring up as the blade passes by, scraping across the sharp edge as it does so. It isn't generally permanent, and resumption of normal stropping will restore the prior sharpness. If you're trying to repair some prior damage to the edge then this technique can be useful. Same as with hangers, actually, except there sag and pressure are partially fungible techniques.

Edit: The aforementioned response of the full hollow blade to pressure also helps explain why full hollows are easier to get sharp than heavier grinds. OTOH they also *need* to be sharper for a comfortable shave...
