Yep, four seasons in one day.
Ha ha, went there in Oct 2003 for RWC. We had been in Perth for Eng v SA and it was really warm, pleasant. Arrived in Melbourne and thought I was in Manchester - cold and wet. By the end of the weekend it was OK, plus we had beaten W Samoa and into the quarters, job done.

Medan Indonesia? (I think....your clue did help as otherwise I would have guessed much further north). If so, is this a nice place for westerner to visit, meaning is it safe and fairly well traveled by outsiders?
Close. Medan is becoming more of a tourist place with some new hotels, Marriot for instance. Mid to high end. Daily flights from Singapore on Silk Air.
Thanks. Maybe this general area is a place I can visit some day.
Lake Toba?
Indeed it is Danu Toba. We went there on our honeymoon 10 years ago, wife is from Medan so she was keen to show me the area, and a good call it was.
