Does anyone know where the bristle for boar hair brushes comes from? Is it a by-product of the pork industry, in much the same way as badger hair is from the food industry in the Far East? What part of the animal's body does it come from? The back? The underside? To be honest, I had know idea that pig/boar bristle was so long. But then, I've never had the chance to examine a boar at close quarters.

Yes, but it comes from domestic pigs (the pink ones), not from wild boars.
And from Europe too... not only from the Far East.
