    Default It's my Wife's Fault!!!

Greetings everyone, a newbie from Kentucky here. My adventure to here begins with this past Christmas, my wife purchased a VHD shave soap as a stocking stuffer, thinking it was to wash your face with prior to shaving. I explained that it was to use with a shave brush in place of shaving gel or canned shave cream, but that I had always wanted to try it. (I really did want to try it.) So I went out, bought the inexpensive shave brush to match and tried it out.

I forget where I first heard how to get a lather but I tried it and couldn't get a good one if my life depended on it so I searched the Internet for some advice and found it here. Afterwards, worked up a great lather and was hooked by the feel of the warm lather and the challenge of creating it.

Now, I waiting for my first DE to arrive. I ordered an EJ DE89L. Any advice with this razor would be greatly appreciated. Seemed to be a quality razor and a good one for both learner and the experienced. I also considered a Merkur 38C HD and still have it in my sights. Oh, I also ordered some Tabac shave soap to try. Next, I'm thinking of trying the Mitchell's Wool Fat.

I thought after my time in the Marine Corps and several inspections, I had shaving down to an art, only to find that there was an whole new arsenal of tools I could use to improve the experience of shaving.

I am definetly hooked Gentlemen and it's all my Wife's fault!

    Welcome to the group.
I think you will enjoy the Jagger DE89L. I love mine. It is a three piece, so be a little careful putting in blades. Be careful about the angle of the blade. Use next to no pressure.
    Good luck

Welcome aboard! Tabac's scent is one of the most polarizing topics on the board, but seems to get universal praise for lathering. I happen to like MWF myself. Check out the wiki article on abbreviations when you have time.

Remember, when the ADs hit, you can blame it on SWMBO. Lucky you.

Welcome to B&B... You should enjoy your EJ DE89L. I know I like mine very much. I have found to to be a very comfortable shave, not very aggressive. Just remember to reduce, not eliminate. I usually wait for weekends to do my best BBS shaves (changing blades on Sunday morning), and only 2 passes (WTG & XTG) during the workday routine.

    Hah!

my S/O did the same thing! She told me my stubble hurt her chin and asked me to start shaving every day. I looked online for a cheaper, more effective method, and here I am, three razors, 9 aftershaves, and 9 soaps/creams in!
