How? The fact that it makes you uncomfortable is hardly a convincing argument.

Stephen you complain about freedom here, but you only believe in it if people agree with you.

That seems like an awfully personal reply after I simply pointed out that the fact that the topic makes you uncomfortable would hardly be a convincing reason to deem it not family-friendly. I have no problem with you disagreeing, but, if the only basis for your disagreement is your personal discomfort, then I see nothing wrong with pointing out that such a subjective opinion hardly amounts to a well-made point on why this topic might not be family-friendly.

And, for the record, I consider this forum to be the best-moderated forum on the internet. Freedom here is simply not an issue.

oh you two..... ...kiss and make up....

nobody has gotten out of line yet with this, in my opinion....

I understand your discomfort, but that doesn't warrant making it family un friendly, yet. But I am watching....

I am not real keen on tobacco on being family friendly. I lost my mother due to lung cancer. This is more than "feeling uncomfortable"...but I understand that people do enjoy indulging in tobacco.

believe it or not i actually do my job around here and moderate....if i don;t they take me down in the pay scale quickly.....

While this is certainly not the most, shall we say, "genteel" thread on the board, it is by no means "obscene" or even very "risque."

As mentioned above, what is disconcerting are the personal barbs being bandied about so quickly.

If you don't like the thread, then don't read it. There are certainly lots of other threads to click on.

And, as Xert mentioned above, the fact that someone finds a particular topic or discussion uncomfortable does not make it "wrong." A gentleman has many qualities, and tolerance of the opinions of others is certainly one of the best of these qualities.

We are all more than welcome to share our thoughts and beliefs here--including this thread.

No worries, gentleman, I can not be easily offended....just stepped away into real life for a few...

Unfortunately I did not get all dressed up for you -- I am simply wearing a green shirt, jeans, and the usual pony tail....next time, I will think ahead so I can have a much more enticing answer...lol.

You guys are a great group. I joined here to ask some questions pertaining to a gift, but keep coming back for the enjoyable topics and conversation.

    Keep it up, guys!

Oh, and in all that I forgot to post my opinion

Let's see, it would be nice to think that a man would be so enamored by me that we could spend hours upon hours having so much "fun" that he would never have time to partake in his various acquisition disorders....so yes, this could be a cure....however I do love a smooth, clean shaven face. So what to do, what to do?? I guess you will just have to fit it all in somewhere!!

Hope this helps, but probably doesn't....

My answer to the original question would be "no".

As Htown Marty would say, "Resistance is futile." There is no antidote.

Since I need to cherchez la femme first, I think smelling nice from a shave would be a prerequisite.

But it's a good point, if I'm always trying out new soaps, I can't do the cherchez part.

This thread is not gentlemanly, it's very simple, but I believe with different language and an altered attitude it could have been, but in it's present form I do not beieve it is. It's not the worst thing that it could be, there's no dirty pictures or anything of the sort, but it's not genteel and it's not enlightening, there is no serious discussion here other than debate of whether or not it's appropriate. The rest is a montage of mildly crude jokes and other humor and even some flirting, this isn't is a serious discussion about sex, if it were it could be appropriate depending on the circumstances, but that's another issue.
This started off with my opinion which I was attacked for, then I attacked back. IMO, neither of which was appropriate. Apparently Stephen thought I wanted to debate. I don't. And Stephen if I offended you, I apologize. I stated my opinion, that I do not feel that this thread is not family friendly, i'ts not about my comfort level, it's my view of whether or not it's appropriate. And I'm not saying this is the forum equivalent of a Hustler magazine, it's certainly not, but I don't feel that it has been presented in the best taste.
Mitch, you stated that children do not read these forums, there are not a lot of children, but there are some. My own nephew for example spends time reading here. He is 13 and I recommended B&B to him as a good resource and to his parents as a safe place for him to read and learn. My nephew is a good kid, but he is a very naive and impressionable child, I do not want him reading this thread, I don't think it's appropriate for him, and I know my brother would be extremely angry with me if his son read this and I wouldn't blame him.
Some of the comments here have been amusing, we have many funny and intelligent people here. I personally find both Mitch and Stephen to be highly intelligent even if I don't agree with all their ideas, I respect their minds. B&B is a place which prides itself on gentlemanly ideals, something I think we all appreciate. All due respect to tolerance, but I don't think this thread represents those ideals and I hope this debate does not continue and we can put this thread to rest. And I hope my own nephew and any other impressionable youngster does not come upon this, because I feel that it misrepresents all of us.
