And the lucky buyer got one heck of a razor.

I'm a K-mart shopper and that's as far out of my reach as a rainbow.. but even a mutterin' skinflint can appreciate art.

Everyone here needs to know that ZethLent is a class act!

The Quo arrived quickly from Japan, but there was a small problem. The blade wasn't centered and was rubbing on the scales when opening and closing.

Reacting quickly after reviewing the pics I sent, Seth diagnosed the problem and gave me a list of qualified people to choose from who could fix the problem. At his cost!

A few emails later the Quo was on its way to be repinned and rehoned.

    Thank you Seth!

I wish to refute my previous remarks.

I got the Quo back. The problem I described earlier was due to a bent tang and misaligned scales according to the person who did the repairs. Flaws that were readily evident to the naked eye. Flaws that should have been disclosed by a conscientious seller.

    Repinning was no use.

Great care is still required in opening and closing the blade to prevent damage.

I don't see where these flaws were disclosed in the OP. And the pics are gone so I can't see if they were evident. I'm keeping the Quo as evidence and as a reminder to myself to excercise greater care on the BST.

Mods, I apologize if this post is inappropriate. Please delete if you think so.

I dealt with Seth a few times, and he's been nothing but great. It sounds like he tried to take care of the issue when you notified him of it. Is it possible it was damaged in transit?

This should be handled in the PM area of B&B.
If you think there is a chance your post might be objectionable, it probably is to someone. Our usual standard here is to exhaust all efforts to contact a BST party prior to posting the type of message you did. Suggesting that a member sold a item that he knew (or should have known) was damaged it a very serious charge.

No. In PM's and emails exchanged with Seth he acknowledged that there was a problem with the razor before he shipped it.

Mike, you are absolutely correct. I did try to resolve this through PM's and emails. Many PM's and emails. I only came here when it became evident the effort had been exhausted. He would not accept return of the Quo. His last communication to me was along the lines of "you can't blame me for a manufacturer's error, tough luck" (not an exact quote, but a paraphrase).

In the interest of full disclosure I had also purchased another razor from Seth at the same time I bought the Quo. This second razor arrived in great shape and I have no problems with it.

I'm not trying to start a flame war or drag someone's name through the mud. I'm just trying to present the facts of this one transaction as I know them and let everyone know that I wish to withdraw my endorsement(s) of zethlent.

I don't feel good about doing this, but I don't think I'm in the wrong. I needed to say something about it.

Can you post a photo of the razor in question?

    Harry,
Thanks for your public response to a bad situation for both parties involved. I have snipped out two portions of quotes that I would determine to be key. Prior to shipping, Seth informed you of an issue with the razor that was later confirmed by an independent restorer? It would have been at this point where I would imagine you wished you had put a stop to the purchase no doubt.

Secondly, Seth refused to accept the razor back and refund your funds. This is solely his decision but not one we see often on the BST. I have been involved in over 400 BST transactions a majority that have been positive. My earlier post was not meant to be troublesome to you or Seth. I hope this can be resolved as both you and Seth are generally regarded as B&B members of high personal integrity and reputations.

It's always unfortunate to hear something like this happen, but Harry does have the right to post about his experience in a public forum.

I have had positive dealings with both Harry and Seth, so I think the issue is just as described - an isolated incident that should not reflect negatively on either of them.

    The bold emphasis is mine.

Did he tell you that it was damaged before he shipped the razor? In other words he told you it was damaged and went ahead with the sale anyway.

Or did he tell you that he knew it was damaged after you told him you received it and discovered that it was damaged?

I'm under the impression that the second case is what happened.

Gentlemen, this situation is being taken under advisement. For now, I'm locking the thread so as to prevent speculation, piling on, and so on.
