    Default Blade Recommendations

Hi Everyone... I'm new to this site and new to wet shaving and I am trying to get some recommendations on de blades. I plan on ordering a sample pack to test a variety of blades, however, it seems that the sample packs all differ in their razor offerings. Is there a certain "core" set of blades that anyone can recommend to try out?

    Many Thanks!

IMHO, I would make it a point to try the Iridiums and 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge (Yellow Pack). Not sure if either or both of those are in any sample packs that you're looking at, but they should be. Just buy an individual pack of each if you can't get them in a sampler.

If you're just going to buy packs rather than a true sampler, I'd include the following:

    Yellow 7 o'clocks
    Green 7 o'clocks
    Astra Superior Platinum
    Red Pack Israeli Personna
    Kai
    Feather
    MAYBE Derby

I have no use for Dorco blades of any kind.

Go big, with the largest sampler form West Coast: DE Blade Sampler Pack, Everything. You'll get the Iridiums and the 7 O'Clock yellows along with all the most popular blades available. Bullgoose also has some great samplers, as well as ShoeBox ShaveShop.

    +1

Blades are probably the biggest YMMV item in shaving so try everything you can and don't bother with Merkur blades.

My core blade pack would be:

    Iridium Super
    Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow
    Astra Platinum
    Lord Platinum
    Derby
    Personna Red
    Shark Chrome

Welcome to B&B. You've been given some good advice here. I echo the idea of trying every blade you can until you find one that works for you.
