Hello Seasoned Gentleman,
I am new to the site and thank you for providing such a valuable resource. I am in my mid-thirties and fairly new to straight razor shaving. I usually use a multi-blade like the Gillette Fuzion and then go to my non-descript straight razor for edging and lining up. I have on occassion given myself a complete straight razor shave with desireable results if not totally professional results.
I started my enthusiasm by getting a razor cut from a local Italian barber and then a few weeks later going to "AOS" and the using their extremely capable barbershop services.
I am a Black man and prone to razor bumps but I have started using a Peeling Gel by, Obey Your Body, and I have seen a vast improvement with my beard skin color and less frequency of bumps. I also shave pretty much daily to keep the wild hairs in check. I use AOS Sandalwood set for my pre-shaving, shaving and post shaving needs.
I still have yet to try stropping and the other particulars of a straight shave but I look forward to it.
With the information I gather from this site I hope to one day lose the multi-blade entirely. I must admit nothing makes me feel more professional and manly than the ritual of shaving.
Thanks again,
New Shaver
