    Default Newbie from Tennessee

Hello everyone, my name is Scottie and I am very happy to be here. I have been active on a lot of cigar boards for the past few years but this is my first non-cigar forum. I got interested in wetshaving about a year ago and started reading about it. My interest stems from general disgust about the rising cost of cartridge razors and the lack of a good quality shave. I still remember my grandfather using a badger brush and cake soap when I was a youngster and it has always been appealing to me as a ritual.

I have 2 DE razors that will never get used, one was my dad's (he passed away when I was 3 back in 1972) and one is my wife's grandfather's razor (a gold TTO). I recently jumped in and bought some beginner stuff and have been using it for a week or so. I travel every week for work so I got a Merkur travel DE and some soaps, mug and a beginner brush (all from Colonel Conk). I am still getting used to it but find the shave still beats the old way plus bay rum smells better than barbasol. I do not think that the travel is the razor for me so my next purchase may be a long-handle Merkur or the Parker TTO HD and am willing to take any advice on either of those. I look forward to reading a lot and learning a lot and expanding my collection. I am actually looking forward to hitting the antique shops where I live to look for DE safety razors from days gone by.

Welcome to B&B! The antique store thing has been a great thing for my wife and I. We love going and doing this together.

Welcome to B&B. Enjoy yourself here. Soon you will be shaving as smoothly as Lane Keffen's exit from Knoxville.

Hello from Memphis/Johnson City! Be careful, everyone comes here to save money and then ends up spending so much more!

Used to be clubstogie before it was bought and now it is cigarasylym mostly. I live between the tri-cities and knoxville but travel for work and currently that is Brooklyn, NY and home on the weekends.

Yes, I do visit him but not that often. I live East of Knox on 11W and going to Leaf and Ale is out of the way from the airport. With that said, I think he is a great guy and send him business when I can.
