My Guess... 3017

Shave #1 with a Wilkinson Sword Shave Stick in the books. I don't recall ever using WS before. Very subtle, clean scent. Just the way I like it. Lathers easy but seems to like lots of water. Slick as all get out. A darn fine shave.
That's good to hear. I just got one in trade.

I've read Luc's review of it at least twice so had always been curious about it and when the opportunity came up I seized it.

That's a good one. Lanolin. Just a simple clean scent. I found it to behave very similarly to tabac/sim including turning to goo at the very end(I grated into a tub). I think you'll enjoy that one.

I have nothing to report!

Still enjoying my Pens Fern.. every shave a 10!
I started it on 10/25/14 I think....
Me too! I mean nothing to report.

Still on the Tabac that I started 9/1/14. It looks like it will last until mid July 2016. No hurry, I like it just fine.

So Jim and bluesman have perfected the ethereal load method, then. Load it like it doesn't really exist :)

:lol: seriously though, those are extended length 3017 efforts. I, for one, am very impressed. That's some dedication!

Spent this past weekend at a college buddy's lake house about 45 minutes west of St. Louis. Lots of fishing and reminiscing. Total tally for the weekend was 38 bass, 23 blue gills and 14 crappies. Brought along the Proraso Green and a Bic single disposable and got 3 great travel shaves.

I've been trying cold water shaves for the past week as the temps here in the Midwest have really hit the typical summer averages. Previously was not a fan of them, but have been getting some really great shaves with the Green and cold water. Very refreshing.

Now half as wise
Still going strong with the AOS Lemon (Old formula, of course) Probably have another 6 weeks to go. Not necessarily trying to use it up faster than average. I generally use one brush for the week. Started my rotation of three boars this morning, so we'll see how the usage compares.

I feel like such a soap waster. I am currently using about 1.2 g/day of Shaving yeti soap my guess is I will finish it sometime mid September (of this year). Managed to set the tin down in a sunny window and the next morning it had melted and was now level. It seems fine but I think the soap is easier to load when it isn't flat.

Wish I had jotted down when I started this puck of MWF. Feels like a long time ago!

When I had a dozen or more soaps to choose from and I started working on using them all up, it was "load it like you hate it."

These days, with one full puck of soap on hand, it isn't as much a sprint to the finish line. I can't say it's "load it like you love it," because I'm not trying to make the soap last longer. The brush loads however much wants to be loaded that day. I am one with the soap.

This has been your zen shaving moment of the day. :001_rolle:lol:

More like "Load it like you hate it because that is how you get the best shave"

Hi gents,
I've been away from this forum for about 7 weeks. The summer has been too busy for me to keep up, which is a good thing. So here is my cameo appearance :tongue_sm

I have completed two more soaps since my last post. I thoroughly enjoyed my first Haslinger (Schafmilch), which helped remind me what protection is and what I was missing in some of the RR soaps. It stood up to scuttle heat without a problem. I liked the scent and was expecting something faint or muted, but was pleasantly surprised by a healthy dose of "soap" scent. Nothing special but pleasing.

I just wrapped up a partially used ramekin of Palmolive and like it as one of my staples. I find the scent a little odd, but in that way that makes me say, oh, this is Palmolive. Not bad at all. It is distinctive, kind of like how Tabac is distinctive.

Onto one of my early favorites from 2012, RR Mugetto di Bolgna (Lily of the Valley, tallow ~37g). I used to love the strong scent and it should last me through August. I think the scent may be too strong for my liking now that I have been exposed to more sophisticated soaps. Will report back...

Today I finished the PdP. I got tired of chasing around bits in the bottom of the tin and called it dead.
It's been since February so I'm very relieved.

Tomorrow: I have some Fendrihan Lime & Ginger soap in the mug at the ready. It's a lightweight at 65g compared to the PdP so I expect to blast through it in, relative, ease.

Day 3 WS Shave Stick. Now this is more my speed. I don't have a lot of experience with shave sticks but I think this WS may be the best I've tried. Very slick, decent post shave feel. As I mentioned early, a wet brush is required, it likes water. Usage also seems to be higher from what I recall of other sticks I've used. I can see it going down after only a few shaves, which is fine if it produces a good shave. Mostly I use Proraso Blue for travel but I can see adding one of these WS sticks into the Dopp bag for a little variety once in a while. This has been an unexpected gem. I'm taking it with me on a couple road trips. Proarso Blue has been a good travel cream because it seems to handle any type of water very well, which is a true test of any travel soap/cream. I will be interested to see how the WS handles various water types. A couple of the towns I'm going to have notoriously hard water. Ahhh...its so good to look forward to a drama free irritation free shave. :thumbup1:

Tallow + Lanolin is always a good combination in my book.

Kind of a random question, but has anyone noticed their scent preferences changing after sticking to only one soap at a time?

I've never been a huge fan of strongly scented soaps. With the exception of a couple of jars of MdC (moderately scented to my nose) the soaps I've gravitated towards over the last few years seem to be mildly or lightly scented, like MWF.

I guess a strong scent can get cloying after a while.
