My Guess... 3017

Hi all, It's been a while since I posted here. I think it's time to caught up with my soap use. Since I was here last I used Nancy Boy and RR SoZ.
Since I'm not really a cream guy the NancyBoy was nice, but not really my cup of tea. I gave what remains of it to my son who really likes creams. The SoZ was a typical RazorRock soap for me. Nice creamy lather with a great scent.
Currently I'm using the RR ABCBA LE soap. I broke it into two containers of 150ml each. At this point I'm not sure if I will use half or just go for it and use all 300ml at once. I'll keep you guys posted.

I have been having nice shaves all week with CRSW, but it isn't blowing me away like my favorites (MW, I Coloniali, etc.), but I am also not craving for change. I had the terrible realization that measuring my stash is easier done in pounds than grams so I think that it is time to prioritize and knock out some of my creams and softer soaps.

Finished RazoRock Son of Zeus this morning. Good soap, really easy to lather. Good performance. The scent was very strong all the way to the end.

I have two more RR soaps (XX and XXX) with the old labels. I don't know that I can ever add a new label style RR tub to my den. Just doesn't work next to DRH, AOS, IK, PdP etc.

RJ, I too like the CRSW but definitely give the nod to I Coloniali and Mystic Water. MW has three new scents out today...wondering if I should try to fit one in before years end. When I got the lather right it was fantastic.

I won't be following anyone else in terms of scent. They are all laid out for when I'm using them in what month, but I will probably sway from my choices.

No intention because the pucks will last longer than a month for me, unless I'm using 4+ grams a shave. I'll probably start with Sandalwood and go based on the weather, or my mood, or something equally random.

Probably the best way I guess, to keep the scent options random considering they have so many to choose from!

@beginish and @domzals1
You both sure are bringing back fond memories for me.:001_smile

Hmmm... another entire year? I won't survive. But I'll probably do at least 6 months of creams in 2016. A tube of Lavanda has been calling my name for a long time now.

Tabac- the love affair continues.

Sometimes I just want to make another pass because there is so much of that wonderful lather still in the brush...

Jury still out on Palmolive stick. I cut it up and placed in an old RR tub. The first few lathers, starting dr and adding little water produced lathers that looked like they would work but ended up drying out on the face. An insidious drying out as it still look like real lather until I touched it.
One last chance this morning, I thought maybe it just needs to be wetter, so I added more water and got a much more stable shave. Then I did a Marco Method test lather with an Omega S and got perfect looking slick gloop. Looking forward to trying this tomorrow.
A showstopper may still be post-shave feel as skin feels too dry.

I've commenced finishing my Palmolive stick. Maybe a couple weeks of shaves left. I use it as designed, rubbing it on my wet face and then taking my brush to my face. I always get nice lathers this way. Slick, protective lathers.

The Institut Karité puck was installed in an old DRH bowl. First shave with went great. Effortless BBS. Superior post shave feel. The scent is light, not sure if it's because the puck is old and was not sealed or if that's the way it is.

After 40 or so shaves with MWF, I can now confidently say it will not make the top 3 or 5 for me, so won't be missed or repurchased.

It does take a bit of work to lather and is a bit finicky. I have it dialed in now, but is still hit or miss sometimes.

Face feel forum phenomena, is just not there. It has no better or worse post shave feel then other top performers like: Valobra, Speick, LaToja, Mudder Focker and any of the Haslingers. My guess is the lanolin is so little and with all the other ingredients, it doesn't add much.

My little puck of B&M Nocturne is still cruising right along. Looking back at my (almost) total Barrister & Mann year gives me fond memories of great shaves. I've taken down Hallows, Seville and now working through Nocturne. Only took breaks at the beginning of spring with a 1/3 puck of Pre de Provence and a half stick of Speick for Speicktember and then the odd ball traveling shave. Looking forward to seeing how this year will compare to next year's Haslinger run.

That's exactly how I feel about it Bruce. I absolutely love the scent but otherwise there are a lot of easier soaps to work with.

I have PdP nicely dialed in. This is another soap that benefited from soaking. Not yogurt lather but great shaves.

I have only 13g of haslinger shcalfmich left and it has been wonderful!
It's right behind Valobra hard puck for me.

After this one it's mudder fockers turn :)

brucered Jarick good to see other guys who feel similar about the Fat. I've never gotten it to the point of usability, but even if I did, it's clear to me the level of effort required simply isn't worth it.

I've been trying to get "The Fat without the Fuss" as the tag line for Schafmilch, as I truly believe it to be true!
