"Got Shoes?"
Johnniegold, any chance we can get your top few soap? Any unsung heroes you ran across?

As for unsung heroes, I don't think I really strayed very far from the tried and true soaps. I don't think there are any surprises when I say that DR Harris and AoS were the best of the bunch.

Mitchell's and Tabac are above average performers and I could see them in my collection again. T&H Luxury is also another fave.

I found the Trumpers to be a ok but not anything I would miss.

Congrats!

I had another subpar lather and shave with the Mike's because I'm down to the last bit of this sample. The problem is the bowl...I tried putting it in the Walmart salsa dish, and it works great at first, then I have trouble picking the soap off the sample, because the dish is concave. For the next sample I will put it back in the 2.5" ramekin, which even though it is small, it's got a slightly raised bottom which kills soap off nicely.

My two soap shipments are in the mail. So that leads my collection to:

Mike's Samples:
- Lavandin & Eucalyptus
- Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper

Stirling Samples:
- Lemony Orange
- Bonaparte
- Barbershop
- Tuscany
- Lime
- Sharp Dressed Man
- Sandalwood
- Naked & Smooth

Creams:
- Coate's Superior Lime
- CO Bigelow (20% left)
- Art of Shaving sample

Soaps:
- Omega (half full)
- Cella
- DR Harris Arlington
- Mitchell's Wool Fat
- Tabac
- Palmolive (stick)
- Williams

That ought to last me a good while.

Wow!!! Holy moly - this epic thread just became more epic as the originator completed the journey! I salute and bow down to you, my friend.

Now half as wise
As planned, I started the AOS Sndalwood on Jan 1. So far so good!

I am afraid to actually make an inventory list of what I have collected accumulated, but I'm guessing it will take me to 2017!

Well this wasn't what I needed, everything seems wrong. First I can't buy anything and everything good shows up for sale, and now I look into this thread and our leader has finished his quest. Every time I see Bob or Jim posted I get excited. But hats off to you and congratulations on one of the most epic threads ever, the start of a movement.

It is also tough to look at what you started with and see it still took 4 years. It only strengthens my belief that you have to use the best you have instead of stare at it or hoard it and use even mediocre software.

I've been following this thread for a good few years and it's been fun to watch. I chop and change less so because of it.

Your post is quite inspirational so I think I'll join up and give it a go once and for all!

First up, Fitjar Shea Pleasure Shaving cream...

And the tools for the job...

So.... what I'm taking from this is that it only takes half as long as it appears to use up your soap collection. Basically, that means double your collection and your estimate will be more accurate. :wink2:

I don't know how you guys go through soap so fast. I have a sample of Muhle Sea Buckthorn that I think was 1/2 oz. when I got it and I think it will last me 10 weeks of daily shaves.

Edit; I used less product and it worked!

yeah, it boggles my mind! my last puck of mwf lasted me nearly a year of daily shaving!
if i load heavy, i just find my results drop away because there is just too much soap in the brush which makes it difficult to get the optimal soap;water ratio.

Merry Christmas, Jim!

I'm thankful this year that there's only one Jim...if we were all like him, the shaving soap makers would have been long gone by now!

(But one Jim is juuuuusssstt the right number!)

I'm not a Jim, but my soap use seems right in line with his. I'm a little relieved that I'm not alone.

Edit; Yea, there are three of us.
