Ben,

Can you post a picture of your soap? I'm curious to see what it looks like after 62 shaves.

Thanks!

The scale read 391 grams

Two months and one week with unscented MdC, but only two months since the first weigh in.

2/7/2014 - 3/7/2014: 435-391=44 grams used. I'll guesstimate 24 shaves for a usage of 1.83 grams per shave. I did a solid week with a Morris and Fondran two-band stubby/chubby with a 31mm knot - MdC paid the price

MdC continues to impress. Very consistent and solid performer.

A jar of fougere arrived today - I am not necessarily sold on the scent upon first whiff, but I have a feeling it will grow on me.

$IMG_20140407_203204(2).jpg

The scale read 337 grams. (And I got the picture orientation correct for the win!)

Three months and one week with unscented MdC, but only three months since the first weigh in.

3/8/2014 - 3/7/2014: 391-337=54 grams used. I'll guesstimate 25 shaves for a usage of 2.16 grams per shave. There was a very small detour to sample some Grim Blades Smolder that was received free of charge, but it zapped my skin so it only was used twice before moving on to another member.

I continue to really like MdC, a lot. The resistance to wear, in my case, is very disappointing, but I haven't had a bad shave to date. $60 for 3-4 months of use is pretty steep especially when there are less expensive soaps that perform just as good (if not better in some cases). I could ease up on the lather as I make too much, but there is nothing worse than not having enough lather to prep, shave, and final wash/rinse with.

I aim to make Bob proud and blast through this last bit of soap lickety-split - time to break out the soap murderin' brushes.

So Brian, is it safe to say you'll probably only every buy SCS soaps?

I really wish the Woods didn't react so badly with my face, because I REALLY loved the scent and performance. I'm hesitant to buy any other SCS soaps in case it wasn't a fragrance oil issue, rather a common ingredient. I have been enjoying the Lavender aftershave milk though. I may have to get some more of those! And I just got an email today that they'll be releasing some other skin care products, so I should be able to get my wife on board.

Thats a pretty good assumption, although Arko is fantastic, Old AOS, LaToja Sticks, Arlington.... and the list goes on. It would probably be easier to list Soaps I will never buy........

It appears my Blue will at least make it to the weekend and maybe even through it.

It is getting difficult to get enough out as the end of the tube must be thicker metal and doesn't bend or give.

Finally numbers will be tallied when it's dead, but will be around 50 uses.

Bruce, I see a couple of wrinkles in the rolled up part of the tube that could have a little cream in them!

Yeah, there is still a bit hiding in there, plus whatever is in the cap. When I unroll it to squeeze more out or the wrinkles it must weaken the tube, as it's developing little micro tears and oozing.

At least one more shave in it, that's for sure.

The best $8 cream ever.

And Calani Tulach Ard is done after 16 shaves. Awesome scent and great performer and would definitely buy again in the future along with her aftershave balm and shower soap.

Next up is around 3/4 of a tub of TOBS Jermyn Street cream.

The journey so far:
2.12.2013 - 12.12.2013 Arko (16 g): 9 shaves, 1.8 g per shave
1.1.2014 - 18.1.2014 Figaro (56 g): 16 shaves, 3.5 g per shave
19.1.2014 - 6.2.2014 Tcheon Fung Sing Mandarino e Spezie aroma intenso (42 g): 16 shaves, 2.6 g per shave
7.2.2014 - 21.2.2014 Palmolive stick (21 g): 13 shaves, 1.6 g per shave
22.2.2014 - 22.3.2014 Institut Karité (42 g): 23 shaves, 1.8 g per shave
23.3.2014 - 10.4.2014 Calani Tulach Ard (59 g): 16 shaves, 3.7 g per shave
11.4.2014 - ** Taylor of Old Bond Street Jermyn Street cream

Wow, only 16 shaves from a puck of Calani. It doesn't surprise me too much, they are small after all. I got a bunch of Calani soap right before I started on my puck of DRH Marlborough. Maybe I should give the 3017 treatment to my puck of Tulach Ard after I'm done with my DRH Marlborough. A puck of Calani will be like a walk in the park compared to a puck of DRH.

60 shaves into my tub of AoS Sandalwood cream and I have used up 86 grams of product which equates to 1.43 grams per shave.

I am trekking along and obtaining fantastic shaves...

Almost done the MdC. Probably 2 shaves left in the jar with only a small ring left around the bottom edges of the jar.

I started back on 1/26 and have 76 shaves on it. My Simpson Chubby 2 Super Two Band is delivering the coup de grâce.

I have to admit that I thought it would last a lot longer than this. My early shaves were using about 1g per shave, but the later shaves are more like 4-5g per shave because the soap has turned into a cream-like consistency like Bob observed.

It's definitely a great soap. No complaints from the lather, but given that it is so hard to obtain and the fact that it costs like $60 after shipping is included, I don't think I'll buy it again. I mean, that averages out to like $0.75 per shave which seems really high to me considering I got a tub of QCS Iced Key Lime soap for $17-18 and it lasted me almost 70 shaves.
