What's new

My Guess... 3017

I am interrupting my Strop Shoppe Lemon Eucalyptus and will pick it up later. I entered a contest that Matt at Queen Charlotte Soaps was running to name his new scent and I won. The new puck of Cubano Breeze arrived in the mail today so I thought I would start it up tomorrow morning. Matt described it as a hint of tobacco with a nautical scent; that seems about right sniffing the puck. I have used his creams before but never the soap so I'm curious. I will update you all after a couple of shaves. The Strop Shoppe gets finished after this puck is done.

My Vostok pulled a Tabac and in the final days has turned into tallow soup. I stir the brush through sludge to "load". The only other soap I've had do this is Tabac. Shaves just fine, but it's a gooey mess. I'm letting it dry out with the lid off but it'll expire tomorrow or Sunday.

I had a bit of that while I was excessively soaking. The resulting lather pickup was a gelatinous glob that wanted to stay that way.

SCS Refined Menthol will go down to the B&B LE 2012 brush tomorrow. (it was a 1/2 used puck)

I was in Pennsylvania yesterday and stopped at Stone Cottage Soapworks on my way home. I was out of his Shaving Cream (Gave away alot)
so I bought a couple of tubs

From 8/17 to 10/01 I will be using either Coconut Holiday or Fougere

10/1 it will be Saint Charles Shave Pumpkin thru Thansgiving

Only a couple more shaves are left in this tube of TOBS St. James. I'm traveling this week, and brought a tube of Coate's sandalwood as back up.

I got moves like Jagger
202 shaves into my D.R. Harris Arlington puck and it's crumbling more. It is almost time for THE final transmogrification. This time it will be smooshed into a "palm puck"; I'll let you figure out what that is. Pics will follow when it happens.

Calling the Vostok done and putting the last little bits in my graveyard container where I'm building a frankensoap. I chased the last few slivers around the bowl for a while this morning and ended up not getting a decent load so I had a thin, watery lather shave.

For the rest of this month I'm going to go through some sample. I just bought a Simpson's Case brush to take with me because I'm traveling almost all of Sept and I lathered up some MW bay rum sample to try to get some funk out of that brush. I know Bruce had issues with MW recently but even using that tiny little brush the lather I got off that MW was :001_tt1: and the scent (other than the wet dog new badger brush funk) was :001_tt1::001_tt1: The lather was so thick and rich. Took me a couple of trials to get the water right, but I'm excited about working through these samples of MW.

My next full 3017 product will be a 2.5oz. tube of AoS lemon cream I'm throwing in the dopp kit for my travels in Sept. I've got to kill that off for SCS pumpkin starting Oct. 1

I'm still plugging along with my MWF (since Jul 01), getting bored of it but that's the price you pay for soap and cream hoarding.

The more the merrier.... any others out there !!!

Geez you guys are smart. I have been tearing thru some B&M Fougere at the moment but was contemplating what to use this Autumn. Now I know! Thats the best idea I've heard all day. I am in. SCS Pumpkin Oct 1 thru T-day. :thumbup1:

Midway through today's shave with Mystic Water I called it quits. I was relathering my face again and and decided it wasn't worth the effort. I pulled a tub of LASS Hollywood Romance off of the shelf, lathered up with my B&B 2014 LE and had fantastic stable, stlick lather. I was able to get decent lather using a synthetic brush from MW but it wasn't stable enough to last through a whole shave and I would have to repeatedly relather.

I finally finished my Floris Elite, it lasted from 7-7-13 to 8-15-14. It was a super hard soap, though I don't shave daily and at first I wasn't using enough product. I have moved onto my L'Occitane Cade and am going to try to finish that a little faster.

Of course, to help me in this endeavor I think I am going to get a Duke 3.
