My Guess... 3017

I'm still going on my Haslinger Aloe Vera. I'm at about 6 or so shaves with it. I've realized that starting on the puck with a very wet brush creates the optimal lather with this particular soap...And the resulting lather is outstanding. Based on appearance, I'm thinking 30ish shaves left on this puck.

Started January Arko yesterday. IanS LLL on layaway until I have a whole face to shave in late spring.

My, Arko is easy to lather, even in small quantities. This might take months. I might get bored. Bring me knitting.

I've been 3017'ing a tub of cottage cheese this week. I broke through the bottom today. Will probably only last a couple more days. Luckily I stocked up with a second tub this past weekend.

On a serious note, I face lathered my Maca Root with my 4125/1 and I got three really good passes out of it. But I didn't use as much product as I would have hoped. Maybe it's time to bust out my 28mm TGN Finest.

My puck of Haslinger Schafmilch has completed its 3017 journey. I lost track of shave count because of the holidays but I believe I had 30 - 33 shaves out of the puck. That was loading like I hate it. This soap lathers so easily that I found myself only loading for 15 or 20 seconds. Any more than that felt wasteful. From a performance perspective this has moved to the top spot of my favorite soaps. It does everything very well.

I have moved the shave den into another bathroom as I just started remodeling the master bath. For the next few weeks I am keeping it simple. '66 Slim, Personna Blues, well broken in blue B&B essential boar, face lathering Mikes Rose and Cedarwood. This is one of my favorite soap scents. Its a partial tin but the remainder should last about 3 weeks and by then remodeling will be completed.

Happy New Year gentlemen. I have to get back to tearing old tile down.

I try to 3017 my fountain pen ink but my wife and son keep wanting to change colors and open new bottles. Sigh, I kind of feel like a relief pitcher that comes in and tries to finish things up. Right now I am doing my best to use up some Pelikan 4001 brown. Next up will be Montblanc blue. While I might have enough shave soap to last till 3017 with my soft water, I think my ink supply will go till at least 4017... Maybe I need to learn to write with fatter nibs.

Ruckin.

Gonna end 2014 by mowing down 6 days of growth with RazoRock San Valentino, Gillette New Improved (Tuckaway), 7 O'Clock Black, RR Fine XXX AS, and RR King Louis AS Wax. It'll be a good way to end the year. Looking forward to tomorrow though, the first KK Shave of 2015!

I just used up an old tub of RR Fresco. I'm not sure if my measurements were off because I used 8g/shave according to the math. That doesn't seem right, but maybe it is so. I've been using a new Plisson badger that I got last October and it seems to chew through soaps faster than my old standard, a Parker pure badger. But then again, I used the Plisson on Nonno Michelino last month and averaged 3.1g/ shave, which is typical for me. I did not feel like I was washing more lather than normal down the drain. Just curious, has anyone experienced a Fresco usage like this?

Fresco was enjoyable and rates in the middle of the pack. Good average soap. Whips up a great lather in seconds. Mild but pleasant scent. Not as slick as top tier soaps.

On to Mudder Focker. The face feel was great this morning. I even used Bruce's tactic of brushing on an extra layer of soap while I clean up, instead of my usual witch hazel splash. I'm not particularly sensitive to soaps but I might have detected a tingle. Will report back if this continues. The lather didn't get very yogurty. I always use a scuttle and Mudder Focker is known to break down in heat. I'll bowl or face lather tomorrow for comparison.

Yeah that doesn't seem right at all. It STARTED at 129 grams?

I mean...I'm using a soft cream right now and I'm going to be under 3 grams per shave. I did use over 4 grams per shave on a puck of SCS, but I couldn't actually measure it to be 100% sure. I have a scale coming in now.

Last shave of 2014 was with TOBS Sandalwood. Always fantastic. Gave the rest of a sample to a co-worker to try.

I start 2015 with a partial tube of Proraso Sandalwood (155g capped). Does anyone have an unopened tube that they can put on the scale?

I changed a lot (too many) variables today did get a very good lather with Stirling. I did use distilled water but also loaded more than my last shave and face lathered. Plenty of lather that didn't collapse between passes!

Good to hear. More Product makes a huge difference.

I put MWF back on hold for the 3017 of Arko last night (Figured since I started the thread i need to give it the college try). I am starting with a full stick. Expect it to last 3-6 months from reports here.

As my sabbatical ends so does my year of RazoRock. This year I was able to work through.
