    Default FS: Replated Fatboy

    SOLD!!!

I have a replated Fatboy for sale, date code F1. This razor was three different colors when I got it, due to plate loss. I enjoyed shaving with it that way for a while, and it's a great shaver. But decided it deserved to be restored and so had it replated. But I'm thinning out the razors, so am letting this one go. I'll ask $50 for this one, or $40 to a B&B Contributor, shipped anywhere, Paypal preferred. Please PM if interested.

The replated razor that is for sale here is the one on the left in the pics. The razor on the right is not for sale in this listing. I put thism in the pic side by side to show what the replated razor looks like next to an excellent original condition Fatboy. You can see the black ring below the adjuster dial has not been painted black, to clearly distinguish it as replated.

    Thanks!

$40 and replated would be a good buy for someone who really likes adjustables and would get regular use out of it.

Where did you send this fatboy for replating? They did a nice job. How much did it cost for the replating?

I had it replated by a B&B member, onotomon. It's been awhile, but I believe it was about $25 for the replating, plus shipping from Houston to England. Another member, Buddydog, has done replating in the past but I've not had him do any for me. I believe he's here in the U.S. There may be others here who will do replating, and I imagine prices will vary by person and by the razor type you have. There are other threads here on replating that you can "search" and read. I suggest you post a request for replating service on the WTB board.

Being that the replating an re-paint was done I was expecting this razor to be more in the $200 price range. Great deal!

Thanks! I believe in capitalism, and looking for opportunities to make a profit as much as anyone - my job, you know, that thing that keeps us from doing what we'd really like to be doing, spending all our time on B&B - is marketing and business development. And I most likely could have taken the replated Fatboy to eBay, put a nice spin on it, and sold it for the type price you indicated. But this "hobby", and especially the priviledge of sharing it with others in a gentlemanly way here on B&B, is different. I really enjoy the comeraderie here, the desire to share and support one another, the PIF's to help others, and folks going out of their way to help each other out with the common interests that we share.

I apologize for the long post, but it seemed like a good opportunity to remind folks that B&B is special. Nothing wrong with making a profit, I love capitalism! But there are other places for that. And Rainman, I know you feel the same based on your posts and actions here, so don't think I'm commenting negatively to you. This just seemed like a good opportunity to remind folks of what we have here.

Again I apologize for the long post, but thanks for the opportunity, and thanks again B&B!
