    Talking newbie to wet shaving

    Hello all.
I have received a Parker 89r for Christmas and have tried shaving with it.
I am finding im not getting any better a shave than when i use my Mach 3 razor i know I am doing something wrong because everyone on here says they far outweigh the plastic rubbish when it comes to shaving.
Im following the grain instead of against it.... not putting any force on the razor and holding it right at the base ( have read past posts ) i am using the blades that come with the razor ( Gillette 7oclock platinum's) could it just be a case of them not being right for me? I would really love to be able to use the razor to its full advantage because i know they are so much better than disposable head ones. Any help would be appreciated and P.S this forum is the best by far I have found while looking for info on wet shaving!

Welcome to B&B. What are you doing to prep your beard before shaving. Getting your whiskers softened and ready to be mowed down is just as important as how you shave. I highly recommend you go to YouTube and watch the Mantic videos. They will give you a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of shaving.
Stick with it and don't be discouraged. It takes time to get a great shave. Enjoy the journey!
    Happy Shaving!

First off, it's going to take a few weeks to develop your new technique. Like learning anything else, DE shaving is skill. Fortunately it's an easy one to acquire with a little practice. Don't despair if your shaves aren't as close at first. Keep your focus on your blade angle and on using no pressure with the razor as these are the two biggest causes of irritation.

Try to resist the urge to change razors/blades until you've refined your technique more. Otherwise, you'll end up frustrating yourself trying to figure out if the problems is you, the razor, or the blade.

Feel free to ask questions here. You'll get lots of helpful advice. It's a great group of people.
