Default need to replate soap bowl with sentimental value: anyone know a source?

    hey gents,

decades ago, my parents brought me a shaving bowl and brush back from switzerland. over the years, the plating at the bottom of the bowl has been eaten away by contact with soap & water until it's nearly back to the base metal (looks like brass). I'd like to have it either fixed or replated in its original nickel finish.

anyone know of a source for this kind of work?

    many thanks,

Nickel can be re platted. I had some bolts I had to get platted and found most machine shops or fabricating shops do this.

Check with a local machine shop, and find out where they get plating done. There are also several places online if you search the internets that do small parts (single piece) plating

B&B members buddydog and onotoman do razor replating in nickel. I suggest sending them a PM to see if either can do the bowl you are seeking to have done. Onotoman is in England, but the shipping costs are very reasonable.

The highlighted part is key, as most plating shops are simply not interested in doing small batch plating, unless you are willing to pay them through the nose for this privilege.
