Heading to NC - Charlotte

hi guys its early in the AM and in 5 mins I am about to head out from NJ to NC Charlotte - any recommendations for eating along the way? How about in Charlotte - although its first time in that area - from what I understood - people in that and surrounding area took their BBQ very very very seriously
I am not interested in fancy restaurants I am talking about just down to earth good places...

if you can find a soul food place that you would normally second guess goin to... go, it's good stuff.
NC bbq is more vinegar bbq than other kinds of ketchup bbq in the usual chains... go for pulled pork, my personal favorite
and yes any mom and pop bbq place south of the mason-dixon is quite serious about their bbq
