I started with canned stuff 40 plus years ago because thats what everybody used. Works fine, I can get BBS with it, its just not as relaxing as rubbing a badger across yer face loaded with a high end luscious cream
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the "Shea moisture" Badger from Target, it's good for , 10$ and locally available. I'd recommend it over the VDH Boar and The Body Shop synthetic.
The VDH boar has some break in period, sheds a lot and mine was hard to lather with at first. If you break it in per the wiki, it will get better and I like it now almost as much as the "Shea Moisture" pure badger.
I still want a best or fine badger, I just can't decide what's the best value.
I really don't find any of the canned stuff slick enough. There's a drag factor that interferes with my technique.King of Shaves gel works well, but I'd still rather have my Arko.
Stay away from shaving goo in a can. Use shaving soap or shave creme. Shaving with a DE and canned shaving creme or gel, is like smoking a pipe with cigarette tobacco in.
