Default Buon Natale - Omega 49

Got an Omega 49 (black handle) from Santa.

Any break in tips for this big hunk o' pig hair?

Nice score. To break it in I guess you just gotta use it. When I got my 48 I soaked it in warm water with shampoo and then made a nice lather using Proraso - twice. Let us know how this thing performs.

I have a 49 and love it. It softened up and broke in pretty quickly. Most of the ends were split within 5 uses or so.

Your soaps are quivering in fear.

I "broke it in" it a couple times in hot water and Old Spice classic body wash. Used it with PC OS type soap and got a great shave, but I think I'm going to have to get used to the big pig. Of course, I'm well away from having it broken in.

It sure looks like it means business. I think that Williams may have met it's match.

I'll be interested to know how it goes with creams.

I used my '48' today with some Omega cream. It does fine. It's a little different than a badger but it generates enough lather to paint a house.

Seriously though, I had enough for 3 passes and a touch-up.

That's a fine brush. Enjoy, after a few shampooings, of course!

I received my omega boar about a month ago and i am LOVING it.

They really do have a horrible odor to them at first. I broke mine in by whipping up several batches of proraso. I whipped some and let the brush set in the lather for 20 minutes or so, rinsed and let dry. I did this about 4-5 times a day for 3 days and the scent was almost gone after that.

I really love the brush, i have had great results with soap and creams. Im not sure ill ever be willing to spend money for another badger after using this brush. Im pretty much converted to boar brushes .

I was soaping up the Omega today, fully intending to rinse the VDH mixture off the brush just to help get the funky smell out, but the lather proved too hard to resist.

Great shave, with a ridiculous amount of lather in that brush. I'm becoming a boar believer, this Omega is to my VDH brush as Prime Rib is to a McDonald's dollar menu burger!

Does it shed like a VDH? Interested in a comparison as I have the VDH boar and also have the Omega 49 but I've never used the 49 yet.

Mine sheds a hair here or there but nothing like my VDH used to.

Too early for me to comment on shedding. It's losing a few hairs, but I expect that during the first couple weeks.

In all honesty, my VDH brush isn't a big shedder.

Been using this brush for around one year. The brush shreds more than I like. With that said, I am tough on this brush by pressing probably too hard on the hard soaps and using circular motions instead of up and down.

Still a great price/performer. Shall upgrade in the future though.
