After a different thread about Pinaud Lilac Vegetal, I decided I had to try it, so I ordered a bottle off Amazon.
It came in and I tried it. Was NOT impressed and I understood where the urinal puck comments came from, so I set it away in a cupboard.
By chance, I dug it out a week ago and left it sit out with the rest of my aftershaves.
I finally screwed up my courage and used it again this morning.
Hmmm... still different, but not as bad as I remembered. I found myself actually... kinda liking the scent a few hours later.

Am I cursed? Has the Veg CHOSEN ME???

    Oh teh noes!

Just tried Clubman a week or so ago and the wife says I smell like her Dad when I wear it. So will the wife say I smell like her grandfather if I try the Veg?

Only if her Grandfather wore the Veg.

Those who find it vile will never be convinced it is anything but vile.

It truly is a mysterious mixture
I was going to say that some folks ought to give it a chance, and that it "grows on you" but I knew there would be the inevitable jokes about stuff "growing on you" like mold etc.

I've been using it all week since getting 16 oz of it.....

I wasn't too thrilled at first. In fact I had to remove all of my other AS so that I would not be tempted to just let it sit there.

After a week it is..... still...... lilac vegetal... But I am getting more accustomed to it.

Once the bottle gets down to 1/2 I will bring back some other AS...

    Wish me luck

The Veg is like Scotch. You either love it or hate it. I don't care for it, but it is still better than Special Reserve. I wear that, and smell like I fell into an ash tray!

Special Reserve can put the bride in an amorous mood. The Veg, she merely likes.

For me, it's just OK. Yeah, after the urinal smell goes away and it begins to smell like Clubman. But with so many other good aftershaves on the market, why waste your time with this one unless you have a very fond memory of it?

Seems like a high percentage on here think it stinks. So if you wear it out in public, there is a good chance most people will think you stink. Thats a good enough reason for me to choose something else.

Received my package of Pinaud products in the mail yesterday; three 6 oz. bottles of "The Veg" (one for me, the other two for my pards), Clubman talc, and Clubman mustache wax. I splashed The Veg on as soon as I opened the box. I did notice a bit of an underlying funk to the scent which dissipated as the day wore on. This is day two sporting The Veg and I like it better than the first day. I left my face and hands wet with water after I shaved this morning and then spashed on The Veg. This, I believe, moderated the scent somewhat and the funk has substantially diminished revealing a rather pleasant odor. Either that, or The Veg has chosen me, in which case I am truely honored!

I rock THE VEG. Goes without saying, it's awesome. I just wish the scent would linger longer. I'm not talking about the scent in the bottle, it's the way it is once it becomes alive on your skin. Women love it. There are pheromones in this that only come out when it comes in contact with a real man's skin. If you wear that Acqua di gio crap you wouldn't understand. This is old world, gentlemanly stuff.

My woman gave her stamp of approval to The Veg yesterday. She likes it (and so do I) so it stays. I would like to decant it into a vintage glass bottle, however.

They are a little harder to find unfortunately, at least those with the label still in decent shape.

Scouring the internet as I write this for a vintage glass bottle for The Veg. Ebay has an empty Boston Harmony Lilac Vegetal bottle but that must be a knock-off of the real stuff. I will continue the search.

I bought a bottle and used it twice. I fall into the group that thinks "this stuff smells like cat piss". Strangely, SWMBO sniffed it on me and said "this one I like". I currently have the bottle set aside for a future PIF.
