    Default Razor stands

Found these toothbrush holders at Bed Bath & Beyond for $12. They hold 9 razors (as long as the scales aren't too thick), and 8/8 razors are no problem.

    Nice!

I see the RW and some Eski ivory handles, TI LE (in the back ), Oryx (Friodur and the W&B?)

    Cheers

Yup! There's no particular significance to the razors, this was just what was in the first cup I decanted.

    front row, l2r:
8/8 Friodur w/ oryx scales, 7/8 Friodur w/ oryx scales, 6/8 Friodur (new production), 7/8 Robert Williams prototype w/ micarta scales

    back row, l2r:
7/8 TI Egyptian Palmwood, 5/8 Mappin & Webb w/ ivory scales, TI LE Pierreforged, 5/8 Clauss Barber's Special, 6/8 Heljestrand, 5/8 Kinfolks "The Ace", 8/8 W&B frameback (I think, could be the Wostenholm CBU), 5/8 Waterville w/ hideous bamboo-looking faux-ivory scales, 5/8 Heljestrand w/ ivory scales.

The counter has been rearranged since the photo, I've now got 5 or 6 of those stands in the cabinet loaded with razors, and just one stand on the counter holding the day's candidates (currently a puma, the RW, and a waterville).

Interesting to see you give the Puma a second chance - hope it works out well for you

More like a 6th or 7th chance. I bought it and left it in the cabinet for months, and the problem was by the time I shaved with it I had discovered the american razors which blow nearly everything else away (and for only $10-$40). Had I discovered it earlier on I probably would have fallen in love with it - it's a bit better shaver than my 5/8 Friodur and my 5/8 Heljestrands, and I love Friodurs and Heljestrands. But between the Wonderedge, M&W, Clausses, Kinfolks, Gencos, Robesons, Oleans, Simmons, Watervilles and others I've got so many great 5/8 razors that the Puma is just kind of a wallflower shaving-wise.

BTW, the Puma's bakelite casket fits neatly into the toothbrush-turned-razor stand, which is kind of handy.

6 stands with 9 razors each huh? I was starting to feel guilty about the ten razors I own . . .

I use a toothbrush holder as well, a metal one.

Alan, you are a man of incredible control. I'm impressed.

I don't know how many I have anymore. I'm embarrassed to say how many I have, but I'd have to guess around 200. 85%+ are Ebay acquisitions, and those are just about all shaving now.

But I think I've got it all under control now. I only buy the occasional Ebay razor that I consider something special or unusual. I am starting to have withdrawal symptoms when I don't have a razor to work on.

    Joe,
I think you would be able to make a nice stand as well. Perhaps out of styrofoam from a refridgerator box! You're not a man until you can shave each day of the year with a different razor. I'm pretty sure you're there Joe if you include DE's!

I just really enjoy the idea of having one or two razors. Even though I have four by the sink I try to shave with the same razor, the first one I ever bought, atleast 5 days a week. I feel like the two of us have been through a lot together.

I'm thinking I could remove the shower stall and replace it with the razor "stand." Of course, I could only take baths then and the beard soaking is not nearly as good. Also, my wife might not like that.

I'm sure I could manage one razor a day for a year. If not now, very soon. I have some razors, like Lecoultres with replaceable blades that are good for a week alone, and I have a few antique safety razor seven day sets. Throw in the DEs, the other antique safety razors, and the different Gillette and Schick systems I've accumulated over the years, and I'm just about there.

But I just couldn't do it. I have to use my favorite str8s and DEs more than once a year.

Actually, when I think about it, my collection is miniscule. When you look at Lynn's DVD, he has a table filled with display boxes full of razors. Now that's a collection. I wonder how he keeps track of them. I have them all over the place, and I'm always finding one I had forgotten about that I really liked at one time.

I can say one thing, though. I've shaved with every one of them at least once.

I like the holders and appreciate the tip. Does anyone know of a holder with a lid that works well? I like to keep razors away from dust and moisture.
