Anyone want to weight in on the pros/cons of this SR? Looks really nice, but I know a spike point is viewed as dangerous in some eyes..

Cons: Costs money, SWMBO will be upset you didn't spend it on her, you can't buy something else, it will run up your debt...basically it costs money.
vintage is usually better and definitely cheaper.
Pros: Its awesome.
That was my first straight and recently I have been regretting selling it. I love my vintage razors, but that Ebony Spike is a great shaver. I never had a problem with the spike point and generally prefer them both for shaving purposes and aesthetically.
Maybe will step up and order that beautiful Berschiger Lowe sooner than later.
'Earl' peaked in popularity in 1940.
I tend to be a minimalist in terms of designs on the blades, so I love the look of this SR.
What is the major safety issue with a spike point? Is it when touching the face it can dig in?
I had this one, was not impressed.
the quality was not very good, slight bend on the spine, and never really shaved very well. I would go for a nice vintage, cheaper and will shave at least as well as the Dovo.
Honing and restoration services, PM for information.
Now I know what you mean..I picked one of these up yesterday...shaving fine then I got a little careless and the point hit my cheek..nice quarter inch nick..nothing serious...but I can see why you need to be careful with this SR.
What exactly is the point good for? detail work under nose, etc?
